Week thirty two in the garden

It must be pepper season because we've got a ton of them right now.

Mommy is going to be very busy making lots and lots of pesto. It's hard to believe how big our basil plant has become after the rough start it had.

It looks like tomato season is coming to an end. Our tomato harvests have been getting smaller and smaller.

We're been having triple digit weather for the past few days. We sure hope we start seeing fall weather soon. How has the weather been where you live?

Day trip to Ebbetts Pass

Today Grandpa wanted to go scouting for deer so we went for a long car ride to Ebbetts Pass. Grandpa parked on the side of the road and we hiked
down to a creek to look for deer sign. After tracking down some deer trails we came up empty pawed. Better luck next time Papa.

Run and jump

At our house I love to run and jump over anyone
who gets in my way. While Mommy was giving Sierra a belly rub she wanted me jump over them.  So I jumped right over SIerra two times. Mommy wants to know why I have to bark right afterward I land. Every single time I jumped I would let out a bark.  I bark to let everyone know that I landed safely.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi there everyone Sierra here. I am not a big fan of being tickled. I usually can wiggle away from the tickler but not today. Daddy was holding me on my back when a belly scratch turned ugly. This is me in my defensive position. How do you feel about being tickled?

Meet our friend...

...Ranger. We've never met fur to fur but we say hi to him every day through the fence. We so wish we could jump the fence and play with him. Mommy makes sure to pack extra jerky every day so we can share with Ranger. As Sierra likes to say, "sharing is caring." Here's a video of him getting his treat.

Week thirty one in the garden

Grandpa gave us two potted plants yesterday, aren't they pretty. Daddy quickly found a place for them on our patio but still needs to add an automatic drip line to feed them. It is finally Fall so we will have to start thinning out our summer crops and make room for our winter crops. The Baby Bells are now becoming our heaviest producer, compared to this Italian Pepper plant that is only on its second crop of the season. Is any body else ready to start there winter garden?

The friendly coyote

Today while Daddy was golfing this fearless little pup came running up to the first tee. The sad part is this coyote only had three legs. He was also very tame so he is probably being fed by some of the golfers that play there. Daddy wanted to bring him home but realized he wouldn't like our little back yard and could be dangerous to me and Sierra. Some of the other golfers said the coyote lived there year round and believed he lived pretty well. I just hope he went to bed today with a full tummy.

Fabulous Friday

Guess who's been a good boy this week. If you guessed Daddy you are correct. Tonight Mommy treated him to one of his favorite dinners so he must have done something right. That means Sierra and I are going to reap in the rewards of his good behavior. Wasn't it just last weekend that we had pizza bones? Good job Daddy way to go.

Sleepy kids

We're the kids in our house if you didn't know. So whenever Mommy or Daddy catch us doing something cute they become the pawparazzi and snap a bunch of photos. I guess this was cute because were passed out right next to each other. Do all dogs with blogs have to put up with this kind of treatment?

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everybody Sierra here. Remember when I was complaining about the middle seat in Daddy's truck? Well I figured out how to sit in the middle without bothering Teddy Bear. At first I was looking out the window but then my legs got tired so I just leaned over onto Daddy and sat down onto my behind. Sitting there was so comfy that I stayed like that the whole way home.

The white bird

Today Daddy worked on a 1955 Ford Thunderbird. My favorite thing about it was the color. Too bad it's only a two seater so Daddy couldn't take Sierra and me for a ride. That would have been classic.

Week thirty in the garden

There was a potato garden here a few weeks ago. Now thanks to Daddy, its just a big mess of dug up dirt.
We now have a chive bush that is almost as big as me.
These limes are done but Mommy only picks them as she needs them.
Since Fall is almost here Daddy started some new crops. Look at the Swiss chard. It's almost been a year sine I've seen any chard in our yard.

Cousin Kobe

Today Mommy and Daddy were out running errands so they stopped by Auntie Kim's house to say hi. Well it just so happens that Daddy saved some pizza bones from his lunch for Sierra and me and Mommy thought Kobe would like one. If you didn't know, Kobe is kind of shy so this was as close as he would come even when taunted with a yummy snack. Wow I think I would have tackled Mommy if she was waving that crusty thing around my face.

Concert in the park

Tonight we went to our last concert in the park. We had a great time hanging out with friends and seeing other pups like these three. Instead of watching the bands they were staring at us the whole time. They must have wanted to have a puppy party. Too bad it was a on leash only event.

Potato Harvest Part One

Look at what we harvested today! Yukon gold and purple potatoes. After waiting all summer, we could hardly wait to see what was beneath all that dirt. We see lots of baked fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato soup, pierogis, potatoes au gratin, scalloped potatoes, and hash browns in our future.
P.S. The cute little Papillon from yesterday's post belonged to a customer who visited Mommy's work. Her name is Angel and everyone at Mommy's work was in love with her.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi friends it's Sierra here. Whenever we're in Daddy's office, Teddy sleeps under the desk. Teddy loves sleeping under desks even at home and at Grandpa's house. Well it might look like the bottom shelf of a counter but it is actually my own little nook. It's also the only place I can't get accidentally stepped on.

Bath Day

Sunday was our bath day. Once we were in the bathroom Daddy surprised us with this strange looking rubber brush. He said it was for scrubbing our coats and massaging our muscles. After being in the tub for only a few minutes, I was completely shocked at how well this little Kong -Zoom Groom worked. Not only did it scrub deep down where Daddy's fingers cannot, it made us feel a tingly all over. Mommy said we definitely felt softer and fluffier after our bath. If you haven't tried a Zoom-Groom before I definitely would recommend trying one. It worked for us so it should work for you.

Week twenty nine in the garden

Our kale really is making a comeback. We are plucking off leaves almost everyday for Mommy and Daddy's green smoothies. I sure hope the buggies don't move back in too soon.
So it turns out we were all wrong about what kind of tomatoes were growing through the fence from our neighbors yard. These little "toms" quit growing and turned red way before we thought they were going to but I know Mommy is pleased to have few extra for her salads or sauces.
I just love to watch our peppers turn different colors as they ripen. This one is a "Baby Bells" mini bell pepper and it will soon turn bright red. The weather has been kinder to us by cooling about ten degrees over the last week. We hope this week stays cooler for our garden. Thing just grow better when it's not so hot. Don't you agree?

Oopsie...

...did we do that? Well it finally happened. Our first brush broke. It's been around ever since I (Teddy Bear) was a baby. It's given us a bazillion brushings and taken over a bazillion of our hairs. Daddy had to glue the handle once before. Last night the handle broke off. We were so hoping that this meant no more brushings. Mommy brought home a new brush today. Maybe this brush will break soon.

The working Teddy Bear

Oh boy am I pooped. I've been working so hard lately. Even though we all had a short week, I still can't wait for Friday. I would much rather be sleeping in everyday, and then just lounge around all day. Forget Friday, I
Can't wait for Saturday.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi friends it's Sierra here. We went to Eagle Lake for a few days of camping, hiking and fishing. The shore was very shallow so fetching the stick in the lake has never been better.
During our Sunday hike it was so hot that we turned around before we made it to the end. On our way back down my foot was hurting so Daddy carried me almost all the way to the car.
This is the reason I love my Daddy. He's big and strong and always there to give me whatever I might need.

Week twenty eight in the garden

Happy Labor Day. We finally arrived home after a long weekend of camping at Eagle Lake. Once we were unpacked we all ran to the garden to check what had grown the most. The Baby Bells,
and cherry tomatoes are growing so well that Mommy has been using them in all of Her and Daddy's lunches and dinners.
We are all out of store bought kale so as long as it keeps growing like this we will be just fine.
All four of the zucchini growing are still pretty small but I'm betting that they will make it to the dinner table this week.
Even though there are too many for me to count, Mommy said we can never get enough cucumbers. If you didn't already get enough of our weekend camp stories, tomorrow Sierra will tell you her scoop about our Labor Day trip.

Busy bees

I got put on "time out" a lot today...and all because I kept trying to protect everyone from the bees. So I spent a lot of time in the screen room because the bees weren't able to get in there. But would you believe that I took down a bee while we were out on the boat? High five! They zoom zoom all over the place and around my face so I just couldn't help it. Mommy says I should be thankful the bee didn't bite my tongue. Now onto fishing news. Daddy caught the smallest fish today. Isn't he cute? I guess it was a sign that bigger things were in store because Daddy caught a three pound trout. Eagle Lake is known for its salmon like trout because of the pink flesh. Everyone agreed that it was delicious. It tasted like salmon but not as fishy.
