Mommy and Daddy said...

...we are not moving to Alaska. Sometimes they would love to live there too, especially during the HOT summer days. But our most of our family and friends are here so I guess we'll have to stay put for now...besides Alaska is too far to walk. My friends suggested flying, what a great idea! Since I don't have any of my own money, I will have to start saving for that plane ticket on Alaska Airlines. I'm going to start brainstorming some fundraising ideas now. Mommy and Daddy reluctantly gave me some pocket change.

I've made up my mind...

... I am moving to Alaska. It is 66 degrees there right now. We've had the AC on for most of the day and it was still 87 degrees inside. I am packed and ready to go, if I start walking now I should be there in a week or two. I've got my backpack filled with my toothpaste, toothbrush, and water bottle. I brought along some snacks as well, Greenies and Newman's Own. I also brought my Daddy's survival guide just in case I have to hunt for food. I hope there is internet access in Alaska.

Week fourteen in the garden

Daddy had already turned on the AC by the time I woke up this morning. It was wonderful to wake up to a cool house. The AC has been on all day. It was 103 degrees outside today. Daddy went out to the veggie garden several times today to give everyone a mist. We didn't go out there till just now (it's safe to go outside since the sun is going down). The zucchinis are growing very fast! There are a few green beans that look ready to pick. There is a little baby bell pepper starting to grow. This cucumber has grown so much since last week. I wonder if it is time to eat it yet? We have tomatoes in all stages, some are almost ready to pick, some are starting to turn red, some are just babies. We also saw new strawberries starting to come! I was thrilled when we saw this. The bird net has done a great job keeping my strawberries safe! And thank you everyone for your kind words regarding my Uncle Harley.

Today we took a road trip...

...to Nevada City to visit my Grandma, her boyfriend, and my Uncle Harley. It was HOT today so we were glad to be going to the mountains where it would be a little cooler. My human aunts, uncles, and cousins were meeting us there. I was especially excited to see my German Shepherd Uncle Harley. When we arrived I was sad to find out that Uncle Harley had crossed the rainbow bridge on Monday morning. We all stopped by his burial place and said a prayer. He was a great Uncle and I will miss him a lot. The rest of the day was filled with fun despite the sad news. There were no fences, no streets, no cars driving by, just the open wilderness. Sierra and I were able to explore nine huge acres. We were all having fun when someone noticed this little frog had been crushed by the door. What a terrible way to cross the bridge. Mommy wanted me to have a photo shoot next to this pretty plant so I let her. When we came home it was 92 degrees inside. Daddy turned on the AC right away and it has already cooled down to 88 degrees. My friends, I hope all of you are staying cool!

Fun on a Friday

It was hot today, 92 degrees to be exact. Mommy turned on the AC at 3 and I stayed nice and cool in front of the fan. I enjoyed my dinner and had a delicious treat of pizza. That's what Mommy and Daddy had for dinner so Sierra and I enjoyed a few nibbles. Daddy likes to water the front lawn at night. We thought it would be fun to run through the sprinklers. Mommy and Daddy say they did that when they were kids. Sierra wouldn't get near the sprinkler but I got close enough to get myself a little wet. It felt nice to feel the cool drops hitting my back. I think I will try it again soon.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for tricks. Right now my Mommy and Daddy are teaching me to "bow." I am catching on very quickly. I like tricks because they keep my brain active and it's good for us pups to always be learning new things. And the best part of it all? The treats for doing the trick so well. My treat for tonight was cheese. There is almost nothing better than Tillamook cheese. The weather was a little cooler today but it was warm enough that Mommy turned on the AC for us by 3pm. Right now I am sitting in front of the fan, enjoying the cool breeze. I hope you all are staying cool! It's supposed to be a "heater" this weekend!

Another package came today...

...but it wasn't for me. It was for Mommy and Daddy. The package had probiotics and sunscreen. It was another hot day today, 95 degrees. Mommy finally turned on the AC when the inside of our house reached 88 degrees. I am loving how cool it is inside our house right now. After dinner we went for a nice walk. It wasn't that hot outside since the sun was just starting to go down. Daddy is working on building another raised bed to plant sweet potatoes. I am waiting on Mommy to serve us Frosty Paws ice cream. Hurry, Mommy!

My Greenies...

...finally arrived! Just in time too since I only had two left inside the mini pack that Daddy brought home last week. I would like to thank the UPS man personally for bringing my favorite after dinner treats to me. It's starting to warm up again (sigh)! I'm trying to stay cool by laying on my tile or sitting in front of the fan. Right now it is 86 degrees inside the house and it's about 90 outside. This means that we'll have to go for our walk after dinner. It should cool down a little by then. My Mommy says that my paw pads are clammy...must be this double fur coat I have on. Too bad I can't ever take it off.

Week thirteen in the garden

Happy Happy Father's Day to all you wonderful Daddy's out there! I hope that everyone had a very special day showing lots of love to your Daddy's. Our garden is doing great. We finally have cucumbers growing. There is a new batch of zucchinis coming in and the there are a lot of tomatoes that are turning red. Today my Daddy took both of my Grandpas golfing in Sunol. They had a great day on the green. Mommy, Sierra, and I hung out with my Grandma and Uncle Bey Bey. See the china cabinet next to me? I used to sleep underneath it when I was a puppy. Now, I don't think I could even get my head to fit in there. I am happy to report that the weather has cooled down for the first day of summer.

Daddy brought home...

....a package from REI. I thought it would be stuff for him or Mommy but guess what was inside? Two k-9 float coats from Ruff Wear. Even though Sierra and I can swim my parents thought that it would be much safer for us to wear life preservers when we go out on the water. I can't wait to try mine out next time we go boating. Remember friends safety first.

Fun on a Friday

Look at what Mommy made today, Frosty Paws Ice Cream! I had fun watching her mix everything together before putting in the freezer so that it would turn into ice cream. Want to know what's even more fun? Eating the ice cream! It's the perfect blend of peanut butter, honey, and banana. I'm in heaven! I'm so glad it wasn't as hot today. I also heard Mommy and Daddy say that it's supposed to cool down even more. My prayers have been answered.:)

Thankful Thursday

Thank you to everyone for letting us know some of the ways you are helping our planet. A little help goes a long way.

Today I am thankful for my Greenies. Mommy ordered them in bulk but the order still hasn't arrived so Daddy had to go to the store to get me a mini pack. I love Greenies. They are my favorite after dinner treat. It was very hot today and I almost didn't want to eat dinner because of it. (It's 89 degrees in our house and Mommy didn't turn on the AC all day because she is baking bread). I was a good boy though and ate my dinner. You see, if I don't eat my dinner I don't get my Greenie. What are some of your favorite snacks?

Daddy forgot...

...to bring the recycling bag on our walk today. In an effort to help our planet we do our part by picking up recycling whenever we can. Sometimes we find one or two cans, sometimes we find none, and then there are days like today. We found a ton of cans and bottles today. Daddy was so bummed to discover that he had forgotten to bring the bag that we use to carry the recyclables that we find. We found seven bottles and two cans. Daddy had to put them in his pockets and into our waistpack (Mommy didn't have any pockets). I will have to remind him to bring the recycling bag tomorrow. What are some things you all are doing to help our planet?

Where is my...

...ice cream? Our Azure Standard order came in today. I had been waiting for this. Want to know why? Mommy finally decided that it was warm enough for ice cream. Plus, we have room in our deep freezer so that means she can buy more things in bulk. I was sadly disappointed when we opened the boxes and didn't see my, I mean my Mommy's vanilla ice cream. How could they have forgotten? I can't have any of Daddy's mint chip ice cream since it has chocolate in it. She lets me have a few licks of her ice cream but she also makes me my own Frosty Paws Ice Cream. I hope that my, I mean Mommy's ice cream comes next month.

Week twelve in the garden

Can anyone guess what we did today? My Mommy and Daddy are so predictable. We went to Pinecrest again. This time we hiked instead of canoeing to our favorite fishing hole. Mommy and Daddy wanted to make sure we got plenty of exercise. That's no problem for me cause I like to jump onto all the biggest rocks just to see what's on the other side. We also passed a little waterfall so I had to climb up and pose for a shot. My Daddy did a great job fishing and caught his limit again. After dinner, we checked on our veggie garden. Everything looks great. We harvested two more tomatoes during the week. The bell peppers are growing well. I wonder when they will start to change color? Our strawberries are making a comeback. It took them a while to recover from the bird attack. Daddy had to pull out our most gigantic zucchini plant. It was casting a shadow half the garden(strawberries, bell peppers, cucumbers). This was a great learning experience for next year. We have to grow zucchini plants separately from the other plants. I will remind my Daddy of this next year just in case he forgets.

Sadderday number two

My Mommy was a little lost in Orange County yesterday. I was so thrilled that she made it home safely. I wouldn't leave her side last night. But do I ever? My Daddy says that I am a Mama's Boy. I am sad to report that today was another Sadderday. I should have known My Parents were up to something when we went for a morning walk. They went to my cousin's Graduation pawty. If it was a pawty, I wonder why Sierra and I weren't invited? My Parents got home a little late. Do you see what time it is? It's 8:30! Our dinner time is 7 sharp. We ate dinner a little before 8 then got our Greenie and it was almost 8:30 when we sat down for the blog photo. I guess they made up for when they made me my own hamburger. I love hamburgers! Don't you?

Fun on a Friday

Another great Friday. I got up with Daddy and went to work today. Mommy went somewhere too this morning. She got up at like 4:15. WOW. I can hardly open my eyes at 4:15. Besides sleeping in the office all day we went on a delivery in Modesto and saw lots of things like a really big park that I would of loved to stop at and play but we didn't have time. I had fun watching Daddy talk to so many different people today. He talks to a lot of strangers but that's one of his jobs. When we got home Mommy still wasn't there so we went for a walk without her. After dinner Sierra And I helped plant some sweet potato slips in a huge blue pot. I can't wait for sweet potatoes. I can't wait for my Mommy she is still not home yet and it is almost my bed time.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am once again thankful for my Daddy. See that thing wrapped around his ankle? He needs it because he sprained his ankle pretty badly on Memorial Day weekend. That was a long time ago, wasn't it? His ankle is still not better. He still walks us every day and takes us hiking every weekend. He is so great for putting up with the pain that his ankle causes him. He is unbelievably sacrificing! I love him!

To stay in shape...

...I like to go for long walks every day. Afterwards, I like to lift weights with my Daddy. He uses a barbell with two 25 pound weights. That weighs a lot more than me! I get really sweaty and have to drink lots of water during my work out. The treadmill is ok for a work out but the moving belt scares me a little. My work out makes me very tired so I like to turn in early to get ready for the next day.

Today my Daddy...

...raised my futon. Ever since I was a pup I would slip away and take naps underneath our guest bedroom futon. As I got bigger the space became smaller but if I squeeze a little, I still managed to get myself in and out of there. Mommy and Daddy don't like how my back slides against the futon when I am getting out so my Daddy decided to put wood underneath all the legs. It feels so great to have so much more room underneath my favorite napping spot. Thanks, Daddy. You're the best!

Week eleven in the garden

Well it didn't take Mommy and Daddy long to make up for the worst Sadderday ever!  Today we went back to Pinecrest.  My Daddy caught his limit of five Trout.  Yummy!  Mommy is going to make some for dinner tomorrow night.  Sierra and I had a great time roaming around the fishing hole while my Daddy fished.  Daddy says that I am a pro at being on the canoe now.  I even stood up on the top edge and hung over the side on the ride back across the lake.  Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better we went for a great hike along the lake.  Everybody slept on the drive home except Daddy.  After dinner, we checked on our veggie garden.  It was so pawesome to finally see the fruits of our labor.  We picked one tomato and one zucchini.
