Day trip to Ebbetts Pass

Today Grandpa wanted to go scouting for deer so we went for a long car ride to Ebbetts Pass. Grandpa parked on the side of the road and we hiked
down to a creek to look for deer sign. After tracking down some deer trails we came up empty pawed. Better luck next time Papa.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi friends it's Sierra here. We went to Eagle Lake for a few days of camping, hiking and fishing. The shore was very shallow so fetching the stick in the lake has never been better.
During our Sunday hike it was so hot that we turned around before we made it to the end. On our way back down my foot was hurting so Daddy carried me almost all the way to the car.
This is the reason I love my Daddy. He's big and strong and always there to give me whatever I might need.

We spent Mother's Day...

...at Pinecrest. First things first. I had to get in the water as soon as we got there. Did you know that I never ever drink water from a water bottle when we're there? I only drink from the lake. The mountain spring water is cold and so very refreshing.
This looks like a great place to stop for lunch.
Can you believe my pawrents let me sleep like this? They think it's hilarious.
Sierra loved sitting in Daddy's chair.
Grandpa and Joey had fun on the kayaks. Daddy is still trying to figure out how to make it so that Sierra and I can go on the kayaks. They are a little slippery right now. We can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Tahoe Recap

Sierra and I had the entire hiking area to ourselves.

Let's...

...race!!!

We stopped for lunch at Burger Me before heading home. Auntie Flo and Mommy were very excited.

Wow, Mommy, I hope you will share your grass fed hamburger and sweet potato fries.

So long Lake Tahoe, we'll be back soon.

Hiking in the snow

Today we went for a super awesome hike at Tahoe Regional Park. There's a sled hill and trails all through the hills. We loved seeing the fresh fallen snow and couldn't help burying our faces in it. Daddy said if the snow was any deeper he and Mommy would have needed snowshoes. Do any of your pawrents have snowshoes?

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It's Sierra. Guess who went to the beach? My whole family went on a very scenic hike this weekend in San Francisco. It was a very overcast day so it didn't get too hot in the afternoon during our hike on Land's End Trail.

We saw the ruins of Sutro Baths. In 1896, the Sutro Baths were opened to the public as the world's largest indoor pool establishment. There were 7 different baths (pools), a museum, a concert hall and an ice skating rink. The building was destroyed by a fire in 1966.

We took a ton of pictures. Can you tell I was tired of all the picture taking?

My Favorite part was the beach because that's where we played along the waters edge and then rested in the cool sand and had a picnic lunch.

Look at this cool art of rocks that someone built. Everyone had fun going through it like it was a maze.

We tried...

...a new hike today. It was near the local sled hill. There were so many new things to see and smell.

We'll race you to the top of the hill, Mommy and Daddy!

It was great having the hiking trail all to ourselves. We stopped and played in the snow for a long time.

We went to check in on our friends who were sledding. They seemed to be having tons of fun. Can we get on with our hike now?

What are you waiting for, Mommy and Daddy, we need to finish the rest of our hike.

Sierra is tuckered out from a full day of fun.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for so many new friends that we were able to meet last weekend. Daisy is the white Sibe and Talullah is the Malamute. We were right behind them on the Tahoe Rim Trail. We even got to play with them once we reached the end of our hike.
Look at this adorable six month old GSD. She was a ton of fun.
And here is Daisy the St. Bernard. She was just beautiful.
Milo and I were in love with this white Sibe. We all played together while our pawrents were picnic-ing.
And these sweet, sweet Pit Bulls sisters were amazing. Can you see that the one on the right is missing a leg? He Daddy told us that her back left leg was run over twice and there was no choice put to amputate it. You wouldn't know that she was missing a leg though. She ran up and down the beach and swam like a pro.

Sierra's Scoop

As you may already know, this past weekend we went to our favorite place. Lake Tahoe is so great this time of year for hiking. I'm not a lover of long hikes but I always do my best to keep up. The last time we hiked this trail, Daddy had to carry me for the last one and a half miles due to two broken nails that were not healed enough for a hike like this one.
Once we reached the top of Tahoe Rim Trail, I took a much needed rest in the shade while Teddy Bear went rock climbing and squirrel hunting. I was so exhausted afterwards, I almost slept right through dinner. We had a blast.

Our weekend in Tahoe

was so much fun! We hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Sierra met a beautiful Malamute named Talullah and felt that she had to show her who was boss. What is it with girls?!
Once we got to the top, I began looking for squirrels.
After our hike, we had a picnic at the Lake. Here I am hanging with my favorite Lady.
And with my BFF, Milo.
Can you see my owie? I have a swollen paw pad. We're not sure what it's from...maybe the giant ants that we saw on the hike, or too much rock climbing. I'm taking it easy so I can rest up to go on walkies again. A day without walking is just not fun.

Happy 4th of July

Mommy loved these decorations.
We had a great hike to the top of the Tahoe Rim Trail. Sierra really loved the view.
I saw a squirrel.
And had to go after him. I got him cornered in between two rocks. Of course Mommy and Daddy told me to back off.
After our hike it was time to get dinner started. Look at the feast! BBQ chicken, steak, vegetable kabobs, zucchini from our garden, and halibut.

Today we...

went for a hike around Lake Chabot with my BFF, Milo and his pawrents. Here we all are, leading the way.
Of course our pawrents had to stop and read all the interesting facts about the Lake even though we've been here a hundred times before.
Mommy is pretty good about knowing when I need water. But sometimes she would get lost in conversation with Milo's Mommy so I would stop, lick my chops and let her know that I was a thirsty Bear!
Look at this HUGE Eucalyptus tree we saw today. Mommy said we almost look like ants next to it.
We hiked over six miles today. This is how Sierra looked at the end. The look on her face says it all. She is ready to go home!
And then, just as we were leaving the Lake, a squirrel ran out in front of us and went behind this bridge. Why, oh why, do they have to be so fast?!
We were gone longer than we expected so that meant dinner on the road. Sierra and I didn't mind one bit! Grilled chicken breast and artisan french bread? We'll take it!
