Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Today is my Grandpa's 60th birthday. Wow! Mommy made a special dinner for him. She also made him a homemade birthday cake (vanilla with chocolate frosting). Sierra and I got to have some of the cake, no frosting of course. I think Grandpa needs a new fence. We saw this little guy poking his head through the fence. He seemed friendly at first but then wouldn't stop barking. Mommy made me stay inside so I had to watch him from a distance. Grandpa patched the fence so the neighbor pup can't poke his head through anymore. Daddy bought some new stuff for our computer. He says it will make our computer lightning fast!

Week twenty three in the garden

We've been harvesting lots of green beans lately. I haven't had any but Mommy and Daddy say they are tasty. There are a lot of baby tomatoes growing but they won't be ready to harvest for a while. Mommy thought I should check on the sweet potatoes since I have the best sniffer in our house. I think they're doing beautifully. Isn't it time to harvest them yet?
Look at this bag full of...toys and treats? I'm pretty sure that's what I smell. Mommy confirmed my suspicions and then told me that they were for our Paw It Forward friends.

Sadderday number five

Grandpa came over pretty early today and we all got into the car to go to my other Grandpa and Grandma's house. Mommy told me to be a good boy while she and Daddy were going to be away for most of the day celebrating Grandpa's 60th birthday. Since it was such a special occasion I didn't mind being away from Mommy and Daddy too badly. Sierra and I had a great time with my Uncle Bey Bey. It was really hot today and we were glad to be in the bay area instead of being at home. Mommy, Daddy, Uncle, Auntie, and Cousins took Grandpa to Monterey. They had a great lunch at the Fish Hopper Restaurant and then had fun walking around Monterey Bay Aquarium. They saw so many wonderful things today...sardines, a shark, some strange looking fish and birds, jelly fish, dragon leafs, and penguins. Everyone had a great time! When we came home, it was 92.5 degrees in our house. Can you believe that? Daddy turned on the AC right away and it has cooled down to a comfortable 82.2 degrees. We had a late walk tonight. A late walk and we were all panting because of the heat!

Fun on a Friday

So it wasn't THAT fun of a Friday but there was a great reward at the end. Today was a VERY HOT day, over 100 degrees. Ouch! We had the AC and the fan on for most of the day and evening. We went for a walk while it was starting to cool down. Mommy and Daddy left to celebrate a friend's birthday. They were gone for a few hours but it seemed like forever. We aren't used to being away from them for too long. Daddy brought home some of his hamburger to share with us. It was delicious and we forgive Mommy and Daddy for leaving us to go have dinner with friends.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for nap time with Daddy. Daddy was exhausted from working in the heat all day. He deserved a nap when he got home. Even though I was hot myself, I wanted to sit next to Daddy and get in a quick nap before our walk tonight. I had to guard the tennis ball so Sierra wouldn't play with it while we were napping. Then I decided that I wanted to play with my squeaky toy from Charlie. Sierra was getting awfully close to me so I had to tell her, "Don't even think about it!" I love my new toy and I love napping with Daddy.

Pressies from Charlie

A while ago I played Pay it Forward with my good friend Charlie. Today Daddy brought home a package from all the way around the world. The Philippines. Can you believe it? That's far! We have several great friends who are Philippino. I was SO excited to open the package. Even though I've never met Charlie, I could smell him as soon as Daddy walked in the door. There were SO many cool toys inside...a tennis ball, a red squeaky toy, a very pretty and colorful rope, a leopard teddy bear, and a Philippine Jeepney (it's a very cool truck).

Now it's my turn to Pay it Forward. The exchange focuses on doing an act of kindness without expecting anything in return other than that the recipient will, in their turn, pass the kindness along and pay it forward in their own way.

You know the drill guys...I am going to send something to the first 3 blog owners who want to take part. My Mommy will get your email address. In turn you will then post about this on your blog, link to me, then send something to the first 3 people who sign up to play along through your blog. There are no cost restraints BUT don't go crazy! The little something you send can be something you made, bought, were given, or found. No biggie, just a gift that will make the person smile. Maybe something unique from where you live? And, remember that kindness does not have to involve money; there are untold ways to help others every single day everywhere you go-just look around.

Please let me know if you want to play. I would love to share the experience with you.

Thank you, Charlie!

An award

Thanks to the awesome Dory for this pawesome award! If you haven't visited Dory and Bilbo, head on over and say hi!

Now here are the rules to this award:

"When accepting this award, you must blog about the food you have stolen when your humans were not watching. If you have never stolen any food, you must have been a really good pup! You can accept this yummy tray of cookies as your reward! Next add the logo of this award to your blog (optional), then nominate at least 5 other furry blogs and let them know by leaving a message on their blogs."

I have never ever stolen food. I am a very good boy and whenever humans have food I wait patiently. I know this may seem hard but I know that food will eventually come to me. How could anyone resist this cute little face? My sister is a different story. Mommy had baked chocolate chip cookies and set them on a plate on the dining table for friends who were coming to visit. Sierra stood up and grabbed a cookie and scarfed it down faster than I could let out a bark. She's been known to this several times. If food is within reaching distance Sierra will get to it. After she ate that cookie we had to keep a close eye on her. She ended up being ok and now Mommy and Daddy never leave food where Sierra can get to it.

Week twenty two in the garden

It looks like we have another funny shaped zucchini coming in. The green beans are still going crazy. We thought the green beans weren't going to produce a big harvest but boy were we wrong. They are just late bloomers. Our parsley is doing great. Look at how big the leaves are! The sweet potatoes smelled so good that I decided to get into the raise bed to get a better sniff. I can't wait until we harvest them. And that is this strange thing? Daddy says it's a rake and we will be using it soon to plow the ground in preparation for our fall/winter garden.

Today was...

...another busy day. First we went to our friend's house to help with a move. Sierra and I had fun playing with our friend Kahlua. He's a Newfounland/Lab mix. He's quite a bit older than us so he doesn't put up with our playing one bit. He was happy to see us though. We finished with the move and then it was on to Grandma and Grandpa's. On the way there we saw this cool bumper sticker on someone's SUV. We totally agree with what it said, "Wag more, Bark less." Grandma and Mommy had another pot sticker making pawty while Grandpa and Daddy were playing golf. We had fun with Uncle Bey Bey. I love the windows at Grandpa and Grandma's house because I can see out of them. Our windows at home are too tall!

Fun on a Friday

I've never had a spanking before but I think I know what one is. This is how Daddy likes to mess around and have his idea of fun! See what I do when Daddy asks me if I want a spanking.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for walks. I love walks because I get to sniff out my neighborhood. I can successfully manage four square miles by marking my territory. I love that we walk every day, even when it's sprinkling. It's keeps us all healthy and fit. I love to come across other pups and cats. I think they love seeing Sierra and me too. I don't understand why we have to stop and talk to other humans. I just want to hurry and continue with our walk when that happens. Sierra comes with us but I don't think she enjoys walks as much as I do. There is nothing better than walking in the great outdoors, especially on a cool breezy night.

Today was...

a busy day! As soon as Daddy got home we all went out to the garden. We harvested our biggest cucumber ever. We also harvested our oddest shaped cucumber ever. And look at that zucchini. I wonder what happened to it? I supervised while Daddy grilled steaks for dinner. After dinner it was walkie time. We saw a beautiful sunset and saw the cutest Chow Chow puppy. I wouldn't let Mommy get near him. When we got home Mommy said it was time to trim our nails. It wasn't too bad but I was ready to be done! Then we enjoyed root beer floats. Don't worry, we'll be getting our teeth brushed later.

Daddy brought home...

a ton of things today. Mommy ordered some things for me online. I'm only excited about my toothpaste (she also ordered herbal defense spray to keep those buggies away and hot spot oil for Uncle Bey Bey). Mommy's order from Azure Standard also came in. The order included organic vanilla ice cream, one of my favorites. It's not in the picture because we had to put it in the freezer right away. We enjoyed a great walk after dinner and then ate a bowl of cherries while watching Fast and the Furious. Cherries have become my new favorite fruit!

Week twenty one in the garden

It's been twenty one weeks and our garden is going strong. There are three zucchini growing. We saw two that were starting to grow last week and then found another one today. The green beans are going crazy. We haven't had that many tomatoes this week. Daddy harvests at least two every day. In the past, Daddy would harvest about a dozen tomatoes a day. Mommy is feeling a little better. She's still a little sad that her Grandma and cousins are back in Korea but hopes to see them soon.

Sadderday number four

Tonight was a very Sadderday for my Mommy. We had our last dinner with my Great Grandma and cousins from Korea. They are going on a big airplane and heading home tomorrow. Mommy cried a lot tonight. She will miss her Grandma very much. Mommy, my Great Auntie, Great Grandma, and Grandma sat at one table eating and reminiscing about the past. My cousins sat at another table. Daddy and Grandpa were busy on the grill and finally sat down at the table with all the ladies. We went on our last walk with our cousins from Korea. Sierra and I will miss them. They love us very much and love to play with us. Great Grandma told Mommy and Daddy to hurry and have some human babies so she can come back to California to help Mommy. We all hope that that happens soon.

Fun on a Friday

Today Mommy and I went the place she worked before her last job. We went to look at granite for my Grandpa. Granite is a natural stone. Granite is formed when magma is forced between other rocks in the Earth's crust. It cools and crystallizes deep within the Earth. Granite can be seen in mountain tops. Factories cut out huge boulders and then cut the boulders into slabs and tile. Mommy says it's an amazing process. I can't believe she used to sell this stuff. How did she carry around those giant slabs to all her customers? Mommy still has a lot of friends that are at her old work. We were there for hours looking at granite and catching up with Mommy's friends. I didn't mind though because everyone loved me and I loved lying on the tile floor. We brought home lots of samples for Grandpa. There was lots of ugly traffic and it took us two hours to get home. I was SO ready to be home but then Mommy said we had to stop and get gas before going home. Sigh! I was very excited to see Daddy and Sierra. We had a great walk. It was nice and cool and breezy tonight. It felt great to not walk in the heat!

P.S. Mommy clarified that she had slab samples to take to her customers.
