Sierra's Scoop

Grandpa thought he could kill this tree by cutting off all of its branches. But it refused to die. Now it is blooming the most beautiful purple flowers. Khyra would love them. It is a Wisteria tree. The sad news it that it's almost time to rebuild fence and it is totally in the way. I hope it doesn't have to come down. Do any of you have a tree like this?

Today's...

harvest! Look at how big our zucchini grew in just a few days. Wow! I think Mommy and Daddy have had zucchini every night with their dinner. Mommy says she's going to make bread and brownies with zucchini in it. Those sound yummy. It's too bad I can't have the brownies. Maybe Mommy can come up with a carob brownie recipe.
It was over 100 degrees today. We stayed inside most of the day. It was a little warm during our night time walkie but there was a nice little breeze. How hot was it where you live today?

Week eighteen in the garden

Our basil plant is finally starting to take off. Daddy says things we started with seed take a lot longer.
Mommy just loves the color of our beets.
I think our tomato plants are trying to get to the top of the fence.
Our potatoes are still doing great. Flowers are a good sign, right?
Even our chives have flowers.
Our corn stalks are getting huge!
A lot more zucchini are on their way.
Can you see our first (and still tiny) cucumber?
Look at all those strawberries!

Guess who...

came for a visit today? Mr. Hummingbird. Daddy said his wings sounded like they were going a million miles a minute.
What is that, Daddy?
Why are there so many white tubes in our lettuce box?
And what is with all the black tubes in our veggie garden?
Oh, it's a drip system! Daddy and I worked very hard this morning putting in a watering drip system throughout our garden. It's so our veggies can get plenty of water just in case we aren't here. Wait a minute, does this mean we're going somewhere? Daddy and Mommy haven't said anything about a trip but there has to be a reason for the self watering system, right?

Fun on a Friday

Guess who came today??? The A/C man! We were almost as excited to see him as we are when the UPS man comes. We're so glad he came today. It's supposed to be over 100 degrees tomorrow. I think it might have been bring your kids to work day. See the little tyke in the front seat?
After the A/C man left, I wanted to celebrate and have some fun with my favorite stuffie.
Awwwww, Mr. Rabbit, I'm so sorry you are all torn and battered. After all, you are my favorite.
Nom, nom, nom.
No, Daddy, you cannot play with Mr. Rabbit!
I have more destuffing to do!
All that fun made me very sleepy. I think it's time for a nap.

Thankful Thursday

Look what Daddy harvested today! 2 zucchinis and 4 Yukon Gold potatoes. We were so surprised that some of the potatoes were ready.
Let me get a closer look at all of our hard work so far, Daddy. Everything looks great to me.
Mommy grilled the zucchini for dinner tonight. I am so thankful for our veggie garden. Mommy says there is nothing like eating fresh off the vine!

Sierra's Scoop

OH NO! I don't understand how something this awful could happen. Tonight we were walking on our normal route and all of a sudden Daddy gasped and cried out OMD. We all looked quickly before Daddy hurried us away to shield us from it because we were too late....I am deeply saddened as I tell you, that today, a poor pup crossed the Rainbow Bridge before his time. All we know is that he was left alone in a small yard tied up on a long cable tie out and for some reason he tried to jump over the fence. He was hung by his own collar along a stretch of country road where people don't pass by very often so there was no one to save him. I am still in shock. I think I am going to close my eyes and hope I will wake up later from this bad dream.

Look what we...

harvested today. These turnips are huge! I wonder what Mommy will make with them?
Look at all the strawberries that were ready for us today. They were really really nummy! What a perfect way to celebrate the first day of summer!

Happy Father's Day and week seventeen in the garden

Happy Father's Day to the most pawtabulous Daddy in the whole wide world!!! If I had to describe my Daddy in one world, it would be....SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! Mommy and Daddy left bright and early for church. Grandpa took us to Auntie Kim's house and they all went out for a Father's Day lunch. After that, Daddy took both of our Grandpa's to play golf. We got Daddy golf balls and a golf net for Father's Day. (It was a very busy day so we'll post pictures later). Mommy, Sierra, and I went to visit Grandma, Uncle Bey Bey, and Auntie Shila. We had a great walk and had fun playing. This is one of Daddy's most favorite picture of us. Can you tell we're best buds?
Now on to our garden. Daddy says it took forever but the lettuce seeds are finally starting to sprout.
Look at all those strawberries!!!
Mommy is very excited about all the zucchini.
I can already smell the watermelon that's coming.
Our cucumbers grew a ton this week.
I wonder if our kale is ready to harvest?
Look at our first bell pepper.
Mommy thinks the flowers on our cilantro plant are very cute.
We hope everyone had a pawesome Father's Day!!!

Sadderday number thirteen

Mommy and Daddy went to a pawty tonight...without us. Can you believe it? We had our pawty hats on and were all set to go. Sierra and I had fun playing at Auntie Kim's house while they were at the pawty. We heard there was Mexican food and lots of cake. Guess who didn't get any leftovers? Sad, I know. And look who they met? Aren't these eight chicks super duper cute? I can't wait to meet them soon.
Guess who else was at the pawty? This fuzzy rabbit that Mommy got to hold. She said the bunny was just like a puppy but much lighter. I can't wait to meet you, Velveteen Rabbit!

Fun on a Friday

Today was a very playful day. Sierra was feeling all better. She chewed her bandage off so that we could wrestle. That is until Daddy broke it up saying she needed to go rest her paw some more. Then Daddy tried to trick me by sliding his hands under the couch while we were playing so I couldn't bite them. That's when Daddy 's face was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As I jumped up I smashed my skull right into Daddy's nose. He ran to the bathroom with a nose bleed. Wow! What a crazy seven days it's been. Let me give you Friday follow up. I guess it started when Daddy stepped to close to the couch and broke the nail off of his longest toe. Then if you recall I had a bad case of diarrhea and wasn't feeling all that well. Then it was Sierra's turn to feel pain so she broke two of her nails while barking at the girl next door. Tonight Mommy stubbed her toe but no broken bones and no blood so she will be just fine. Lately if you don't bleed it's not an injury. I hope we have a less eventful week ahead of us.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for grass fed beef. It's been almost one year since our last order. There is one quarter of a grass fed cow in our freezer right now. Steaks, hamburgers, roasts, and so many other delicious things are in the future. The A/C man still hasn't come to our house. I don't know what's taking him so long but he better be glad it wasn't too hot this week. Maybe I should get his phone number from Grandpa and give him a call. What do you think?

Sierra's Scoop

First of all I want to start out by saying I'm ok so don't be too sad during my story about what happened today. So the girl next door was looking through the fence huffing and puffing at Brother Bear and me, so I pounced the fence right where her face was to let her know how much I don't like it when she does that. During the commotion I did feel a little pain in my right front paw but I was too worked up by our fence line scuffle to pay it any attention. Then it really started to sting and then it started throbbing. I broke two of my nails, one in half and the other almost down to the skin. Daddy and Mommy were eating dinner so they didn't see my injury until after I left a blood trail all over the patio then into the house across the carpet and up onto the leather couch. Mommy went into panic mode when she saw the blood everywhere she even cried a little with me when Daddy was pouring hydrogen peroxide on my paw. The bleeding stopped in less than 10 minutes. The bandage is big and clumsy so I can hardly walk while wearing it but I will let this one heal along time before I do any thing like this again.

Sierra's Mommy here. Boy, when it rains it pours. It's hard to believe that clawing a fence can break a pup's nails.:( Sierra hates when we clean her wound but other than that she's great. She's playful, cuddly, still loves treat and dinner time. I actually think she enjoys not going for walks. Still, it breaks my heart that my Baby Girl has not one but two owies.:(
