Sierra Update

Hi everyone! I don't who's been calling me a sickie, but I was just at the vet and Dr. Johnson said I don't need to go back anytime soon. And besides, I am feeling a lot better today. I've got my appetite back and my tummy feels better. So now it's time to play ball.

Sickie Sierra

Sierra hasn't been feeling very well since last night. If she doesn't feel better by tomorrow then she'll have to go to the VET on Saturday. I've got my paws crossed that she feels better soon...because if she has to go to the VET then I'll have to go for moral support. And we all know that the VET is my least favorite place to go. Please keep your paws crossed for my little Sister.

Sierra's Scoop

We are Siamese if you please....Hi everyone it's Sierra here with two for Tuesday. You know how they say, two heads are better than one. Well it's too bad that there's only one brain between the two of us. Pardon the pun but since we are such a spitting image, did you have to give us a double take?

Mommy in the middle

Sunday afternoon, Mommy was so exhausted from a hard week at work that she laid down on the floor next to me. Soon we were snoozing and of course Sierra quickly moved in on our cozy little nap. If you didn't know, Sierra is a real snuggle bear. Daddy was walking by when he noticed that Mommy was sleeping with her hands in her pockets. This was very peculiar since Daddy had never seen Mommy sleep like that before. After a laugh or two he realized the ceiling fan was making her a little cold so Daddy covered her with a blanket and put a pillow under her head. We have a special name for whenever the three of us lay like this in a row...this is what we would call a Mommy sandwich.

Week twenty six in the garden

It is officially Fall and now that the cooler weather is almost upon us it is time to start wrapping up our summer crops. Herbs like thyme on the other hand can grow all year round.

The San Marzano's we waited all year for turned out a bit smaller than we expected but beggars aren't choosers.

We could live on this plant alone. Kale is the hardiest thing we have ever grown besides weeds.

As you can tell the bell peppers are done just in the nick of time because the bugs are attacking.

Come on little cantaloupes, get sweet as fast as you can.

Mommy went out to take some photos but also ended up picking some cherry tomatoes while she was out there.

Thank you all for following our humble blog about our little family and all of our adventures. We hope you all enjoy our stories because we do it for you and your friendships mean the world to us.

The things you find on Craigslist

We woke up bright and early to get ready for our big day. We were driving to Palo Alto to buy a mirror that Mommy found on Craigslist. We were able to go for a walk once we got there. Look at this cute pup we saw across the street.

Mommy said this was her most favorite house in the neighborhood. It looked like something straight out of a magazine.

Okay, Mommy, I think it's time we get going...before the owners think we're trying to go into their yard.

Here is the cool window pane mirror that we purchased today.

What do you think? Do you like it? We think it's pretty cool. And now, it's time for me to go ni-night.

We hope you're all having a pawesome weekend.

Pat bing soo

We are having a yummy traditional Korean desert tonight. It is called patbingsoo. First you add crushed ice.

Then you turn the handle and all the ice is shaved into snow.

Then you add red bean paste

and a fruit cup for each

last but not least, my Mommy's favorite part. The little Mochi cakes.

It was...

...a sweltering 97 degrees today. What happened to the the Fall weather? I guess our Summer weather is finally here. Better late than never, right? Sierra and I spent most of the day napping. When Mommy got home she noticed that I was laying in the double rainbow that was hitting our tile floor. I guess the pretty rainbow makes up for the hot temps. Well...almost.

Sierra's Scoop

Is that for me? Mommy made me a heart shaped cookie. She didn't even mean to do it but I love it just the same.

It made me sing

(imagine me singing it to the tune of Tigger's Song)

"The most wonderful thing about cookies, is cookies are wonderful things, they're made with peanut butter and even a little honey. Their fluffy, puffy, chewy, gooey, yum yum yum yum yum. The best thing about my cookies is that I'm hand fed every one".

Today's Harvest

You know what all this sweet corn means, it's time for a barbecue. I know we'll have to wait for the weekend but I am drooling already.
Maybe Mommy will turn these sun gold cherry tomatoes into some of her magic marinara sauce.

What do you think she should do with them?

Week twenty five in the garden

Today was kind of hot out and tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter. At least the garden is getting a lot of sun.

Mommy wants a cherry tree but so far all we have are cherry tomatoes.

I wish Fall wasn't here already because the cantaloupes need as much sun as they can get.

We have a very small Asian pear tree and are so glad it produced a few this year.

Daddy said the corn is ready and he is finally going to harvest them. We will have to take some to Grandpa and Grandma's house next weekend for a barbecue.

Breakfast

Did you know that Mommy and Daddy love breakfast sandwiches? They don't eat them all the time since they try not to eat too much bread. So every once in a great while, Mommy will make some really delicious sandwiches. This time she fried up a few eggs and then added Canadian bacon and raw cheese. Do you see the piece of bacon and raw cheese on the side of Mommy's plate? Well, my friends, that is for Sierra and me. We were very happy pups after breakfast today.

We hope you're all having a great weekend!

Fast Friday

Friday flew by so fast this week that we almost napped right through it. Daddy was playing with the camera when he captured this image of me. I call it Eskie a la swirl. do you like it? Can you think of a fun name for this photo?

55 degrees?

Would you believe that it was 55 degrees tonight? What a great change of pace from the warm weather we've been having for the past few weeks. I know our veggies love the sun. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy seeing Mr. Sun...in bits and pieces. But...I am a huge fan of the cooler weather. I can't wait for it to get cooler and cooler and even cooler after that. I've got my paws crossed that fall is just around the corner.

Sierra's Scoop

While visiting Grandma this weekend this found a fun round chair to take a nap in.
Just as I was getting comfortable Uncle Bey Bey came walking up. Daddy thought it would be nice if I made room for Uncle Bey Bey in my bowl chair.

I soon realized there was only enough room for one pup in this thing. Daddy made me "stay" as long as I could because he didn't to hurt my Uncle's feelings. Grandma is feeling a little better now. Thank you all for all your well wishes and prayers for her.

First time on a submarine...

This weekend we went to Monterey to have lunch and spend time with our Mommy's childhood friend, Lee and his wife, Becky. They haven't seen each other in almost 20 years. What a treat it was to visit the town where Mommy grew up. Although Mommy and Daddy have been to Monterey many, many times we have always had to stay behind (since they usually visit places where we are not allowed). First we went to a great little coffee house cafe for lunch.

In the bushes there were these little birds just hanging out watching everyone eat.

Then we walked through historic Monterey

and went down to the beach where I dug a hole in the sand while Sierra watched the the seagulls combing the beach for food.

Mommy let a stranger hold her camera to take this picture. Too bad Sierra is hiding behind everyone.

After our stroll along the sea we came across a submarine buried in the dirt. This was our first time on one even if it wasn't under water.

Week twenty four in the garden

We are still waiting for some bell peppers. I hope bugs don't eat peppers too! Oh the pain of being an organic farmer. We could kill those bugs with pesticide but we would rather not eat poison in our food.

I hope the cantaloupes ripen soon cause summer is over and I think they like full sun.

There is never a shortage of cherry tomatoes at our house. They have easily been our biggest producer along with the kale. We could live of those two alone.
We had a little rain today and the swiss chard was still wet when we took our photos.

Our romaine is getting very tall. Daddy keeps cutting it down but it just won't stop shooting upward.

San Marzano, what can I say. I hope I get to know you better next year.

9/11/2001 A day to remember.
