Not so Fun on Friday

Last night we read that one of our friends, Charlie went over the Rainbow Bridge. It was very unexpected. We are still in shock. Please go on over and show some love to his Mommy.

Beyond the Rainbow by CG

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful--lush and green and wide!
And running though the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be~
My worn tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Run free, Charlie, we will ALWAYS remember you!

Burning a candle in remembrance of Charlie.

Thankful Thursday

What's this??? Another housewarming gift from our dear friends Siku and Quinn?
Wow, they sure know how to throw a party! Doggy Beer, a donut, and treats!
We wish our friends could be with us. We are so thankful for our friends, Siku and Quinn. You have spoiled us BIG time. Maybe one day, we will get to meet face and face and play all day.

Sierra's Scoop

Whenever Grandpa isn't sitting in his recliner I like to lie on it. The leather is as smooth as butter and extra, extra soft. I love to lounge around and watch TV. I love most of the shows on the Animal Planet and The National Geographic Channel. I just can't figure out how to make it recline. Daddy said it's only for grown ups and I might get hurt so I guess I'll listen to him this time. Any of you pups out there know how to make the chair recline???

Look what else...

Mommy made with the lemony apples. An apple crisp! Daddy and Grandpa dug into it before Mommy could take a picture.
Mommy let me have just a little bit of it...mostly apples. Sierra isn't a fruit eater and spit hers out. I think she's crazy to not love fruit but that just means more for me!
I hope everyone had a great Monday!

Week nine in the garden

Mommy kicked things off with a batch of applesauce. Daddy, Sierra and I thought it was delicious. Mommy uses it mostly for our cookies.
Then we got to work. Daddy transported our seedlings into bigger pots. We hope to see them grow quickly.
Look at all our seedlings!
We didn't harvest the two strawberries that were ready. I'm happy to report that there are lots of strawberries growing. I hope they turn red soon!
The potatoes are thriving. I just wish we could see underneath all that dirt.
This is all of Daddy's hard work. Starting a garden from scratch is not easy. Daddy paved a walk way where we'll put pavers. Can you see the mint plants? Daddy planted bell peppers, turnips, and beets behind them.
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

What do you do...

when life gives you lemons, I mean apples? You make lemonade, I mean applesauce. Mommy was very disappointed about the organic fuji apples we received from our Azure order. We've never gotten bad apples before. The good news is that she received a full credit and she'll be able to salvage some of the apples to make applesauce. She says she's going to make it tomorrow. I can't wait. It was a beautiful, sunny day today. We did a lot of work in the garden and had a great walk. If it starts to get any warmer we'll have to go for night time walkies. How are you enjoying the weekend?

Fun on a Friday

Whenever Mommy brings takes a clean load of laundry out of the dryer, I love to roll around in it. I love to rub my neck in it. I have a lot of fun doing this! Mommy was too late to catch all that fun on video so she thought she would have her own fun and play with me.

Happy Green (Earth) Day!!!

Here are some of the green things in our lives:

1. We bring our own grocery bags when we go to the store.
2. We drink filtered water from our fridge.
3. We compost.
4. We grow our own food when we can.
5. We use reusable napkins instead of paper napkins.
6. We use reusable towels instead of paper towels.
7. We use vinegar, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide to clean.
8. We use soap nuts instead of laundry detergent.
9. We make our own shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste (human and pup), and deodorant at home.
10. We buy in bulk to help reduce packaging.

Some things we to hope work on this year:

1. Learn how to make rain barrels to save rain water.
2. Look into solar panels.
3. One day own a Hybrid vehicle.

Sierra's Scoop

I thought winter was already gone but today we had a thunder, lightning and a hail storm. My fur coat is not thick like Teddy Bear's so I had to where a warm scarf. Teddy Bear and I heard the rain get crazy loud in the middle of the day so we went out back to see what the commotion was. There was ice everywhere. Teddy says he wishes the hail storm could have been a snow storm. I'm ok without the snow storm. Too bad Mommy didn't think to light a fire in the fireplace. Doesn't a cup of warm raw milk by the fireplace sound super cozy?

Azure Monday

Wow!!! Daddy brought home a ton of stuff from our Azure Standard order. Lots of sprouted pasta and sprouted tortillas. There are sprouted burger buns too. I can't wait to have burgers!!! There is a huge box of organic fuji apples. I love apples. Sierra is still not sure about them. Mommy was sad that the 25 lb. bag of flour she ordered did not come. Wait a minute, Mommy, do you have enough flour for our cookies???

Week eight in the garden

Our seedlings are doing great...well, most of them are.
We still haven't seen the bell peppers. Daddy wonders when it'll be hot enough for them to sprout.
Look who finally made an appearance? The potatoes!!! We hope to see more from them this week.
Our mint plants are doing well. They haven't grown much but they are green and strong.
Daddy transported some of the heirloom tomatoes into bigger pots today. I hope they continue to grow strong.
Do you see those red strawberries? Mommy says we'll eat them sometime this week.
There are a ton of strawberries still to come!!! We can hardly wait.

A surprise...

...came for us in the mail today. Our dear friends, Siku Marie and Quinn sent us a package. It was addressed to Teddy and Sierra. How cool to get mail that was addressed to us! We are so grateful for our friendship with Siku and Quinn and are so very thankful for their housewarming gift. We couldn't believe it. We are so very blessed. We are already dreaming about new toys. Thank you again. We love you!

Thankful Thursday

Summer's coming and I'm already hot! During our walk tonight I drank all the water that was in our water bottle. Mommy said that she was sweating too. So what's the solution? Well, not a solution but something to help me deal with the heat? A good brushing!
Daddy does the best job brushing me. First Daddy starts out with a comb. This gets most of my top layer.
Then he gets the Furminator to get my second layer.
I'm so thankful for the Furminator. I feel 10 lbs. lighter. Thanks, Daddy. I feel cooler already.

Sierra's Scoop

I am ready to paint this town red. Today I felt like dressing up like a movie star so I put on my most beautiful scarf. It is made of a very soft mixture of blue and black velvet sewn with a silver thread that shines like little diamonds scattered across a darkened sky. I was saving it for a very special occasion but I don't think I'm going to the opera any time soon since Daddy says dogs are not allowed at the opera. I guess dreaming is what I do best. Sweet dreams.

Out with the old and...

...in with the new. It finally happened. My hand me down retractable leash broke yesterday. Daddy tried to fix it but he said it was beyond repair. I've had this leash for a long time so it was hard to say good bye.
Mommy and Daddy went to the store right away to buy me a new retractable leash. I've never had a new leash before. I've had one from Uncle Harley. I've had one from my cousin Baxter. Once I even had a pink one from Uncle Bey Bey but Daddy would not have it. So we traded the pink leash for the big blue one. My new leash has a much sleeker design. I hope to go to N.A.P.A. soon to buy some reflectors for it.

Week seven in the garden

Daddy went to work on the garden as soon as he and Mommy got home from church today. The mint plants needed to go into the ground. Look at my hard working Daddy. I tried to convince him to use a shovel but he said there's nothing better than working the ground with your hands.
After they'd all been planted, Daddy said they needed lots of water. Too bad we didn't know the rain was coming...and staying, all day.
Our heirloom tomatoes, kale, herbs, and onion are doing great!
Our other seeds have started sprouting too! We couldn't believe it. We were very excited to see the heirloom tomatoes, cabbage, broccoli, and stevia.
The potatoes have yet to make an appearance. It rained almost all day today. But guess what? It stopped raining just in time for our walk. Whew! Did everyone enjoy their weekend?

Some new friends...

...around our neighborhood. We took a long walk around our neighborhood today. We see so many pups during our walk every day but only these two were out today. We just love this Great Pyrenees. Mommy and Daddy feel sad for him because he is outside all day. Every day. They wish they could rescue him and bring him home. Mommy wants to bring him some treats. She says he doesn't look like the kind of pup that gets treats. Mommy gets teary eyes just thinking about him.
This guy reminds Mommy of Teddy Ruxpin. We love seeing him every day. Even though he barks at us, his tail is wagging the whole time so we know he's happy to see us. We're happy to see him too.

Fun on a Friday

Today we went for a quick ride to the gas station. Sierra and I are usually buckled in to our seat belts but for quick trips around town, we get to be free. Of course, I take shot gun and Sierra has the back seat all to herself. I love standing on the seat. This is the best way to take full advantage of the cool breeze. I feel like it flows through every single one of my hairs...there are a lot, you know. Sierra hasn't caught on to how fun this is. She still just sits next to the window. Maybe one of these days she'll learn how to stand and feel the full forces of the wind. Guess what Mommy did with the eggs from Auntie Flo and Uncle Tim? She made scrambled eggs for breakfast burritos. They were really yummy...bacon, eggs, potatoes, and tortillas, need I say more?

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for my Aunt Flo and Uncle Tim. Not only are they super loving and fun, they are givers! They gave us these mint plants and 3 eggs from their chickens. I wonder what Mommy will make with the eggs? Maybe she'll use them for cookies or for baked oatmeal...I can't wait!

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great Tuesday. I spent most of day napping. Have any of you ever had a scary dream? Mommy said I was trying to run away from something in my sleep and even started to whimper a little. I don't remember anything after I laid down on the ottoman. But when I woke up, Mommy was there with the camera hoping to capture the moment. I like the ottoman because it is as high as the couch but much cooler since I get air flow on all sides. It's almost as good as the stack of blankets.
