Today's harvest

Look at what we harvested today. A good amount of kale along with some radishes. Mommy said she'll use the radishes for her daily lunch salads. The kale will go into the pawrents morning green smoothies. We're not big fans of the green stuff but it sure smells healthy. We feel healthy just being next this super food.

Today we...

...harvested some limes. There were tons of them. Daddy is already thinking of the goodies Mommy will be making. First on the list is key lime pie. After that will be lime bars. What are some if your favorite lime desserts?

Potato Harvest Part One

Look at what we harvested today! Yukon gold and purple potatoes. After waiting all summer, we could hardly wait to see what was beneath all that dirt. We see lots of baked fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato soup, pierogis, potatoes au gratin, scalloped potatoes, and hash browns in our future.
P.S. The cute little Papillon from yesterday's post belonged to a customer who visited Mommy's work. Her name is Angel and everyone at Mommy's work was in love with her.

Today we harvested...

...lots of peppers. The red ones are heirloom mini bells and the green ones are heirloom Italian peppers. The mini bells are sweet while the green ones have a slight kick to them. They are delicious raw or cooked. They smell pretty good to us but Mommy won't let us try any. Have any of you ever eaten a bell pepper?

Today we harvested...

...the carrots. There were short ones. There were long ones. There were round ones. There were even twins. Mommy says she's going to use them in a roast. Whew. We sure are glad they're not going in our dinner because they look a lot different than the carrots that go in our dinner.

We've been...

...harvesting a ton of tomatoes lately. Does anyone need any tomatoes? We've got lots to share. What have you been harvesting from the garden lately?

Week twenty three in the garden

A butterfly visited our garden today.
This onion looks ready to harvest.
We've been harvesting loads and loads of tomatoes. Mommy needs to get busy roasting them.
Our cucumber plants look great but we've yet to see a cucumber.
Look who finally turned red this week. We're so excited about our first mini bell pepper.

Look what we...

...harvested today. A bit of San Marzano tomatoes along with cherry tomatoes and some radishes. Mommy says she can't wait to make some marinara with the San Marzanos. We sniffed the radishes and they smell a bit spicy so we'll save them for Mommy & Daddy. In other news, we already have 2 baby persimmons of our tree. We are so excited! When we went to tend the garden today, Mommy noticed that one of the baby persimmons had fallen off the stem. We were all very sad. We live in a very windy city (Chicago 2) and the baby must not have been able to hold on. We hope a lot more baby persimmons start popping up.

Today we...

...harvested tons of kale, radishes, and cherry tomatoes. We can't believe how big the cherry tomatoes are getting. Mommy and Daddy eat them every day with their salad. The kale is used for green smoothies. Mommy also likes to sautee the kale with some garlic to serve as a dinner side dish. The radishes are great with tacos but Mommy said we can't have tacos every day. She likes to add them to her daily salads. What veggies are you enjoying right now?

Week seven in the garden

The potatoes are coming along nicely. It looks like we're not the only ones who are interested in seeing our Yukon Golds grow. Someone has been munching on the leaves and that doesn't make me very happy. We hope the neem oil will keep that someone away.

The San Marzano and Cherry Gold tomato and zucchini plants are looking very healthy. All the leaves look very thick and green.

Is the kale ready to be harvested again after just one week? As always, we are very impressed by this super green garden gem.

The parsley and chives are looking amazing and ready to eat.

Our first harvest

Look at all this kale that we harvested yesterday. Mommy loves to use it in soups, in salads, as a side dish, and in green smoothies. We love green smoothies too.

While Mommy was busy harvesting, I (Teddy Bear) was busy crossing through the garlic bed to get to the fence. Oopsie. How was I to know that raised beds are off limits?

Today's harvest

Look what we picked from our garden today! A beautiful watermelon, a cantaloupe, one carrot, and lots of bell peppers. I hope we get to cut into the watermelon for dessert tonight. We've heard there is snow waiting for us at our cabin. We hope we can go see the white stuff really, really soon.
