The unthinkable...

...happened in the middle of the night. Our Christmas tree fell over while we were all sleeping. We were all too passed out to even notice what had happened. Daddy wasn't so lucky. He heard the whole thing...crash, boom, kerplunk! At first he thought it was the boogey man. But since Sierra and I were not on full alert, he realized that the tree had fallen. Things were just fine last year. But I guess not every twelve foot tree stands the same. Has this ever happened to you?

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday everyone! Did you know that one of my favorite things is snuggling? Teddy Bear isn't much of a snuggler so I get most of the snuggles in our home. It's finally starting to feel like Fall here on California. Fall weather calls for blankets and for napping on the couch. I jumped on Daddy as soon as he laid down on the couch. I think Daddy likes snuggling too since I keep him so warm. Are any of you snugglers?

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday everyone, it's Sierra! Aren't you loving the cooler weather we've been having? It's finally starting to feel like Fall. Daddy was doing yard work out front the other day so we made it a family event. Teddy Bear stayed in the driveway while I stayed back and got cozy in the laundry basket. Mommy thought it was so funny I was just trying to help her with the laundry. Do you like to help your Mommy with the laundry?

Hmmm...

why are there so many yellow leaves on the ground? I know Mommy thinks they're pretty. I know Daddy thinks they're a mess. I guess Sierra and I will be helping to pick up leaves this weekend. Now I know why they call this season Fall...because everything falls! Ha!

Since we don't...

...have much of Fall here in California, Mommy found this lovely picture online. She dreams of one day being in a place where she can witness the beauty of Fall in person. The vibrant colors, the crunching sound of fallen leaves, and the crisp air...ahhhh, we're that much closer to Winter. Do you get to witness the beauty of the leaves changing where you live?

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday, everyone. It's Sierra! Looks like Mommy caught me napping under the dinner table again. I was dreaming about dinner all day long. Everyone is talking about the time change...luckily for me Daylight Savings isn't that hard to get used to. I am always hungry so it doesn't matter if we Spring forward or Fall back. Do any of you have a problem getting used to the time change?

What happened...

...to the fall weather? I love to lounge around on the grass every day...no matter what the weather is like. Okay, maybe the rain will keep me off the grass for a bit...but not for too long. With the cool temps we've been having lately, I've been staying outside longer than usual. But...we've been having summer like weather for the past few days. Isn't this supposed to be fall? It's already dark by dinner time so I'm not really sure what's going on. I hope the cooler temps come back soon.

Until then, I'm going back inside.

It was...

...a sweltering 97 degrees today. What happened to the the Fall weather? I guess our Summer weather is finally here. Better late than never, right? Sierra and I spent most of the day napping. When Mommy got home she noticed that I was laying in the double rainbow that was hitting our tile floor. I guess the pretty rainbow makes up for the hot temps. Well...almost.

55 degrees?

Would you believe that it was 55 degrees tonight? What a great change of pace from the warm weather we've been having for the past few weeks. I know our veggies love the sun. Don't get me wrong...I enjoy seeing Mr. Sun...in bits and pieces. But...I am a huge fan of the cooler weather. I can't wait for it to get cooler and cooler and even cooler after that. I've got my paws crossed that fall is just around the corner.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for cozy places...like the bottom of the bed. Sometimes I wish it were taller so I could fit under there but my head fits so that will do. I love resting underneath the bed because it drowns out sound and provides the perfect shelter when I need to just get away for a pawfect nap.
This is what happened after Mommy started taking pictures.
We're so glad that so many of our friends are enjoying fall weather. We can't wait for the coolness to get to California.

Week thirty three in the garden

The fall weather left us yesterday. We had temperatures in the high eighties all weekend. The temps are going up to the nineties all week. I guess I'll be ok with the hot weather since our garden is still blooming. We haven't seen any strawberries for a long time but were glad to see the first one today.
We have lemon balm in abundance.
Mommy and Daddy have been enjoying lettuce in their salads with dinner every night.
Sierra heard something near the mint plant. (I sent her to supervise today since I was napping with Mommy).
It's a good thing Mommy wasn't out in the garden today because look at what Daddy found. A worm! Mommy thinks they are gross.
There is a cabbage sprouting. We love fall/winter gardening too.
Mommy thinks the shape of this butternut squash is just pawfect.
And look what we discovered today. One of our neighbors has a pomegranate tree. We hope we get to share in their harvest.

Today we...

harvested our first butternut squash, two zucchini, and some tomatoes. Mommy is going to roast the butternut squash and freeze it for soup. She says it's not time for soup yet. It's time to eat soup when it gets really cold.
It finally feels like fall. It was 74 degrees today. I love sitting outside. We didn't even have to wait for it to cool down before our walk tonight. October is just the best!

Thankful Thursday

Look at this grass fed beef marrow bone surrounded by tons of meat. Auntie Flo saved this for us. Sierra and I have been getting a few pieces every day. We are very thankful.
Mommy got an entire grocery bag filled with rosemary. It's from Auntie Flo and Uncle Tim's garden. Mommy says this should last a really, really long time.
It's almost fall and the weather must be confused because the temperatures feel the middle of summer. We are keeping our paws crossed for cooler temps soon!
