...friends! Today we went for a hike at Las Trampas. We thought it was cool enough for hiking season but it turned out to be quite a hot day. Thank goodness we brought plenty of water. There were SO many things to see, new scents to sniff, and new friends to meet. My BFF, Milo, and his pawrents joined us on our hike. Milo and I saw lots of lizards and snakes. They were slippery little suckers. They got away every time. (Mommy hates them so she would not get close enough to take a picture). We met a few pup friends and were able to get pictures of a few of them. There were more pups we met along the way that we weren't able to get photograph. Sierra, Milo, and I worked harder than our pawrents. Us pups had our fur coats on all day! Sierra and I felt like we were on top of the world. I met a horse, up close and personal for the very first time. At first Daddy held me back but I had to get a littler closer. He was HUGE! We were all very hot and pretty tired after the long hike. Still, it was a wonderful day. I hope all my friends had a wonderful day!
It's getting darker earlier and earlier. Our walk turned into a night time walkie tonight. It was fun to walk in the dark. Look at the pretty sunset, it even looks like it's celebrating halloween. There are so many spiderwebs and pumpkins and ghosts. I can't seem to get away from them. I hope all this spooky stuff goes away soon. I'm not scared of it but I think it makes Sierra a little squeamish.
Today I am thankful for pumpkins. Look at this HUGE pumpkin we saw on our walk tonight. I love pumpkins because they turn into pies, cakes, cookies, butter, muffins, seeds, breads, and Daddy's favorite, the pumpkin spiced latte. There are so many pumpkins out right now. Mommy says that it's in celebration for halloween where people dress in costume and get candy. If I dress up can I get treats? I had to look over this little wall tonight. I knew there was a kitty hiding from me. I tried to get to it but Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let me. Maybe we will meet next time kitty!
It was a little cold and very windy at our house today. Teddy kept me warm during my nap on the big bed until Daddy came home. Then we went for a walk, and thank goodness for our leashes because we felt like we were going to blow away like a cow in a twister. Here is a secret... underneath all my hair I have spots like a cow. I'm too modest though and I blush just thinking about my skin being photographed through my hair. I'm a lady you know.
..hair. Sierra and I got our fur coats brushed today. Look at the size of those fur balls! Daddy says I have ten times as much hair as Sierra does. No wonder she gets cold. Mommy and Daddy sometimes feel sad for me because I have such a think fur coat, two of them actually. Daddy says it takes forever to get my hair wet when it's bath time. Mommy is on drying duty and she says it takes her a lot longer to dry me than it does to dry Sierra. I am sometimes thankful for my double fur coat. It allows me to not feel the rain drops as much. I can thoroughly play in the snow. It keeps me insulated so that I never get cold.
Guess what, friends? We were wrong again. At first we thought it was a cucumber. Then we thought it was a watermelon. Now we know, for sure, that it's a cantaloupe! I'm not disappointed that it's not a watermelon because cantaloupes are just as yummy. The onions look almost ready to harvest, don't you think? Next week is supposed to be first frost but with the weather we've been having, I think we are a long ways from it. Look at this stack of pots. It's hard to believe that they were once filled with assorted veggies and herbs. We had a great walk today. We all got a little spooked though. As we walked by someone's lawn, the sprinklers came up and starting shooting water on me. We all didn't know what it was because they made a hissing noise at first. Daddy thought it was a snake! The worst part of today was that Sierra and I got our fur coats washed. Necessary, but no fun!
Uncle Bey Bey and I spent most of the day by ourselves. Mommy and Grandma were shopping and running errands. Daddy was fixing his truck and Sierra was supervising. Grandpa was playing golf. When Mommy and Grandma finally got home we ate dinner and then went for a walk. I was exhausted after a day of playing and waiting for Mommy and Grandma to hurry home. I went to my favorite sleeping area at Grandma and Grandpa's house and settled in for a nap. Mommy thought it was SO cute that I was resting my head of the legs of the chairs. She decided she HAD to take pictures. Of course, this woke me up. Come on, Mommy, I'm trying to nap here! She should know by now that there is no sneaking up on Teddy Bear. Grandma prepared Daddy's favorite dish, crab with spicy miso broth. Of course I had to smell the crab. MMMMMMMMMMM!!!
I hope everyone is having a great Friday. Aren't Fridays always SO nice? I love it because it's the first day of the weekend. Weekends mean more time with Daddy. We went to see Milo and his pawrents tonight. Milo and Sierra spend a lot of time sniffing each other. I think Milo wants to be Sierra's girlfriend. Our pawrents were having fun playing Wii. Mommy went to the kitchen to get some water and she let out a scream! We all ran to see what was wrong. She found a baby frog in the kitchen. Daddy safely carried him out. (Mommy says please excuse Daddy's hard working hands). I spend most of the night having fun while safely guarding my, I mean Milo's, round tennis ring. It was a fun toy!
Today I am thankful for my new treats...organic beef jerky from Trader Joe's. I can't get enough of these, neither can Sierra. I've been getting beef jerky every night while Daddy is teaching me "bang, bang (aka play dead)." I think they're working quite well. I've got the trick down! Mommy and Daddy are thrilled! I love making them smile. It's been in the 80's this week, too warm in my opinion. What happened to the fall weather?
Hi everyone, just here sitting on my favorite bunk bed that Mommy and Daddy call the futon. Teddy sleeps underneath and I get the top bunk, isn't that so cool? There's no better rest than knowing my big brother is right below me...making me feel safe and cozy.
...crab. Grandpa accidentally brought this little guy home with him. Not to worry, friends, he will serve his purpose and provide my Grandma and Grandpa with a delicious meal. This is my reaction to meeting a crab for the first time.
I was extremely exhausted from yesterday so I spent most of today napping. The fall weather disappeared for a while last week but it came back today. It even brought along a nice cool breeze. Daddy wanted to check on the sweet potatoes. He took out the top layer and discovered that they are still too small. We have lots of cucumbers still coming in. And guess what? Remember the cucumber from last week? Well, it turns out that it's a watermelon. Daddy's not sure if it will have enough time to ripen. I hope he's wrong. The same goes for the tomatoes. Daddy hopes that they all turn red before the first frost. We had a great walk. I think Sierra was a little cold but I loved the crisp breezy air!
...went to spend the day with Grandma and Uncle Bey Bey today. Sierra stayed home with Daddy to supervise him while he worked on his truck. Mommy and Grandma made over 300 pot stickers today. I saw a helicopter for the first time today. I barked and barked for it to go away. Someone must have been learning how to fly today because he came back several times. We had a great walk in the cool Bay Area weather. We saw some cool halloween decorations. Grandpa came home tonight and brought home lots of goodies. He brought home abalone and sea urchin. They sure smelled fishy!
Tonight during our walk, Sierra found the biggest stick, ever. Since she loves sticks so much, Daddy carried it home for her. After dinner we had to wait a little before we could play (something about our food needing to settle, etc.). Then the fun began! Sierra and I played with the stick for a while. Mommy and Daddy joined in on the fun too. We caused quite a ruckus and made Mommy and Daddy laugh a whole lot.
Today I am thankful for patient parents. Mommy and Daddy have been teaching me "Bang, Bang (aka Play Dead)." Why would they want to shoot me and why do they want me to play dead? As much as I don't want to do this trick I want to make Mommy and Daddy happy. It's taking a little longer than they thought it would for me learn this trick. Don't they know there is a reason for that? I can't believe they are teaching me this trick. Don't tell the Animal Police. Friends, what is your least favorite trick to perform?
Hi everyone! Guess whose favorite Daddy came home early today...mine! Teddy and I were so excited to hear the sound of his truck pulling up to the front our house at only 3:30. The power went out at work today so he closed early. It's been raining all day so we haven't been able to play outside mostly because I don't like to get my paws wet. Teddy said we are still going for a walk later rain or shine. I wish I had a rain coat.
...I am not waiting for the rain. Mommy and Daddy say we need the rain but it puts such a damper on things. Rain means no walks. Walks are the best part of the day. It was supposed to start raining tonight but it still isn't here. Maybe the weather reports were wrong? I'm so glad that the rain stayed away for our walk tonight. It's Azure Standard Monday again. I had to give everything my sniff of approval. Whole Wheat flour, raw apple cider vinegar, organic rice, organic raw almonds and cashews, sprouted bagels...my mouth is already watering.
I am a 6 year old American Eskimo. I live with my Mommy, Daddy, and sister, Sierra. I enjoy long walks, hikes, camping, and going to Lake Tahoe. I love to play. My Daddy is my favorite toy...I love to bite his hands. I love my parents very much and they love me.
