Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It's Sierra. We were out back enjoying the cool breeze while watching Daddy mow the lawn. The lawn mower is very interesting. It doesn't make a lot of noise but when Daddy pushes it grass goes flying. I don't know how I feel about this.

I'm outta here!

How do you all feel about lawn mowers?

Happy Memorial Day

Ok, I know you are all going to love the little guy in doggles but let me just say our whole day was pretty dog on spectacular.

We went to the San Ramon Wind and Art Festival where we met lots of other pups like this beautiful Wooly Siberian Husky.

There were so many yummy smelling foods. Daddy had pizza and a funnel cake. Sierra and I didn't get one nibble.

Look at the paws on our friend.

Thank you to all the brave men and women who gave their lives. Freedom is never free.

We hope everyone had a FANTASTIC weekend!

Week nine in the garden

Look at how tiny the oranges are right now.

The snap peas are working their way up to the trellis.

Mommy and Daddy loved eating radishes from our garden with tacos tonight.

The swiss chard looks ready to eat.

Oopsie...

...we were bad, bad, bad. Well...according to Mommy and Daddy anyway. Last night when Mommy came to give me kisses, she noticed that the top of my head smelled grody. She couldn't figure out why it smelled like fertilizer. She knew I would never roll in my own meadow muffin. So why was it that my head smelled that way? She washed my head and my mane and still wondered where the smell had come from. There was something off about Sierra too. You see when she goes out back to potty, she comes racing back into the house. But last nite was a different story. Sierra was outside forever. Then Daddy remembered something. Earlier in the day he had given organic citrus fertilizer to our lemon and lime trees. Of course I had to roll in it. So that is where the grody smell on my head came from and the reason why Sierra was out back for so long. Silly Daddy...we couldn't help ourselves. So we really weren't bad, were we? I mean if it smelled so good then we weren't really that bad. But from now on we promise to stay far, far away from the citrus trees.

What's this?

Brewer's Yeast Garlic Pills? They are supposed to promote a better immune system, make our fur coats shinier than they are now and protect us from buggies. I guess they taste alright. Do any of you take any supplements?

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday everyone, it's Sierra! Thank you all so much for the well wishes. I am definitely feeling better. But I still have the coughs in the morning and when I get super excited. The honey helps soothe my throat and cough. If I'm not better by tomorrow, Daddy says I'll have to visit the VET. Gasp! Not the VET. I better eat lots of honey so I don't have a coughing fit in the morning. I thought I would join Mommy for a little cat nap today. She has been working very hard at Grandma's deli lately. Then she comes home and does more work for us. I think she deserves a little power nap.

Does Mommy...

..really think I can't see Sierra's piggy stuffie up there? She tried to hide it from us because she hasn't had time to attach his head back to his body. I don't mind though. I'll take him just as he is. Give me the stuffie. Please?! Woof! Woof! Will that work?

Ready. Set. Attack!!!

P.S. Please say a prayer for my little Sister. She's had a little cough all day. Honey seems to be helping and we'll see how she is in the morning.

Week eight in the garden

Where's all the lettuce? I don't even see enough for a side salad.

Thankfully we have lots of baby greens from our other raised beds to keep our salad bowl full. Mommy said she loves how the little rows of different veggies are so pretty in this bed.

Wow, we have never grown such big strawberries. Sierra keeps checking to see if there are any turning red, but sorry little Sister, not yet.

We officially have a potato jungle in our backyard. The little yukon gold plants aren't so little anymore. Can you see me? There I am hiding behind all those monster potato bushes. I think I'm gonna have to do some digging pretty soon because I can smell those little spuds growing already.

Well...

...I have been waiting all day for something to happen but the sky has not fallen and the coast is clear. So much for wacky predictions.

Flashback Friday

Does any body feel like a little trip down memory lane? This was the day I met my little Sister Sierra. It's hard to believe that was almost three years ago. As you can tell she was pretty used to being around other dogs since she was living at a shelter for a while. They must not bathe pups at the shelter either cause I can still remember how dirty she was that day. I couldn't stop sniffing her because she smelled like she had been to a puppy pawty where there were about a gazillion other pups.

Did I tell you my little Sister is a feisty one? She has really big teeth and likes to show them off.

I knew I could train her into great little Sister but I didn't know she would train me into a great big Brother. Wow, that was a real blast from the past! I can't wait to do this again!

Have you met...

my little Brother, Harry?

Just kidding, it's me. Well my fur anyway. This is from just one brushing. Can you believe all that hair? Wow. I guess I am still shedding my winter coat.

Are any of you still shedding your winter coats?

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everyone. If you want to see Teddy show off you must pay attention to this video. I am still afraid of the door flap noise but Teddy is fearless when it comes to stuff like this. Even though I fully trust Daddy, I am still going to have to bark a little during the next few tries through this flappy door thing.

Wait...

...you want us to what? You see friends, we've never had a doggy door. Our cousin Baxter had one so I've used it a few times but that was a long time ago.

Daddy has been wanting to put in a doggy door for us ever since we moved in to our new home. We can't wait to see it once he's finished.

This was Sierra's first time through a doggy door. After lots of barks and with a little help from Daddy, Sierra finally went through her first doggy door.

My turn. Okay that wasn't so bad. I think I can get the hang of this. Next we'll go through the door without Daddy's help. Wish us luck.

Do you have a doggy door? Do you love it? Is it scary?

Week seven in the garden

Every time we go outside to check on the garden we are shocked by how much things grow from one day to the next. There are lots of little strawberries starting to grow.

The potatoes and

the snap pea plants look have doubled in size since last week.

Our two zucchini plants look really healthy and our doing quite well in there five gallon pots.

Mommy and Daddy have been picking fresh radish to eat with there dinner salad made with baby greens from the our kale, bok choy, and beet plants.

The dill is starting to take shape but it looks lonely all by itself so we will have to work on that.

We were hanging out today when all of a sudden...

...there was a thunder storm and it started hailing like crazy. Lucky for us we had already done our photo shoot and gone for our daily walk.

First bath...

...in our new home. Mommy and Daddy have been very busy lately. They've been meaning to give us a bath for a few weeks now. Of course, Sierra and I don't mind...at all. But today was the day. There was nothing planned except for a trip to Costco and to Home Depot today. Sierra always goes first since she takes a lot less time at the spa.

Next it was my turn. Do you like out make shift bath mat? We had a tile shower at Grandpa's house so a mat wasn't necessary. However, our new home has a bath tub and it is very slippery. Thank goodness Daddy thought to use a towel as our bath mat for today. Mommy has already put the bath mat on her shopping list.

We didn't get pictures but there was a reward of delicious jerky.

Fun on a Friday

Pine cones make a great chew toy. Sierra knows this better than any any one. So when Daddy pulled a pine cone out of his pocket I quickly swooped in and caused a l stir. Sierra thought she was going to get to play with it but as you can tell I am trying to destroy the pine cone before my first turn is even over.

What a...

...beautiful basket of greens. Mommy thinks all the colors are very pretty. It was time to thin out the bok choy, swiss chard, kale, and beets. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the yummy greens in a salad tonight with homemade bleu cheese dressing. We didn't care for the salad but there was plenty of chicken for us to enjoy.

Sierra's Scoop

Happy Tuesday, everyone! It's Sierra. What's Daddy doing underneath Mommy's truck? It looks like a great place for a nap, I think I'll lay down next to him. What do you mean I can't stay? You'e doing what? Changing the oil? In the garage? Daddy usually does that at his work but since Mommy has been helping Grandma at her deli there is no time for all that. Daddy drives a stick shift and Mommy doesn't like to drive his truck. Thankfully Daddy was able to bring everything home to change the oil tonight.

This is how...

I let Mommy know when I need a snack. We can be at Grandma's house, at our cabin, or at home...and underneath the kitchen sink is where I wait patiently until Mommy gives me a snack. Our snacks consist of beef jerky, duck jerky, and crunchy salmon cookies. How do you let your pawrents know when you're ready for a snack?

Week six in the garden

Oooohhh la la , can you tell these little radishes are almost ready to eat? Our garden is doing very well in this cool sunny weather we've been having.

The garlic really surprised us by how fast it grew.

After much anticipation we are finally seeing a row of baby carrot tops in between our rows of green onions and beets.

Mommy is very excited about our little yukon gold potato plants too. They look very healthy and all trying to reach for the sky.

Do I look excited to start eating strawberries again. I've been waiting for months for one of those little morsels of goodness. I think I just love berries of any kind.

The dill made its first appearance this week right near our little basil plant.

Along with our potted squash plant and zucchini, our pumpkins plants are finally here.

Our lettuce bed looks empty but there are little plants growing all over. We are still playing catch up around here so maybe in a couple more weeks we'll start reaping what we sow.

Happy Mother's Day to our amazing Mommy and to all the amazing Mother's out there!
