Week thirty five in the garden

First Frost is quickly approaching. Daddy has been checking the weather every single day. We've already covered our strawberries and this week we'll cover the rest of the garden. For now, our herbs are all doing very well. Our swiss chard and kale keep thriving. (Mommy and Daddy came home a little late today so we weren't able to get any garden pictures). But we do have this little beauty to share with you. Mommy has heard of people growing avocado trees by starting the tree themselves with just the pit. How cool is that? So she thought she'd give a try. After about 2 months, look what we have. We will continue to give it fresh water and nurture it so that it will one day bring us lots and lots of avocados.

Have any of your parents started a fruit tree from a seed?

Azure Monday

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!!! Look at all our goodies from Azure Standard this month. Oats for my dinner (and homemade granola). Emergen-C for Daddy. Zukay salad dressing for salads. Soap to get us clean. Vanilla for baking. Honey for our cookies, tea, granola, and yogurt. Avocados for salads, sandwiches, and guacamole. I've never had it but Mommy and Daddy love them. They love avocados so much that they sometimes eat them plain. I think I need a snack now. How about you?

Azure Monday

Look what Daddy brought home tonight! A huge bag of sucanat, oats, poppy seeds, cherries, raw almonds, raw cashews, paprika, bay leaves, and avocados. Now Mommy can finally bake goodies with all that sucanat. I can hardly wait!

It was almost 100 degrees today. And would you believe that our A/C is not blowing out any cold air??? The ceiling fans offered a little relief from the heat. We hope the repair man comes before it gets any hotter.

Week eleven in the garden

Remember the two boxes from yesterday? Well this is what was inside. Sierra and I were really hoping for Greenies or beef tendons but we're happy that Daddy bought a new compost bin. Our homemade one finally gave out and Daddy said it was time to buy one already!
All of our seedlings are doing great in the greenhouse! We haven't seen the avocados or the japanese sweet potatoes sprout so we are eagerly waiting for them.
The strawberries are doing great. We harvested a few today.
Look at how much the potatoes have grown since last week!
I think the mint plants grew just a bit.
The turnips are growing nicely. Daddy says we'll have to thin them out pretty soon.
And here are the first signs of life from the beets. Mommy loves beets.
Look at the bok choy. They are really starting to grow.
We transplanted some of the cucumber plants into bigger pots today.
And this is my view of the garden for now. Daddy says I can go in once everything starts growing.
Happy Mother's Day to all the pawesome mommies out there. I'm SO thankful for mine.:)
