Week thirty five in the garden

First Frost is quickly approaching. Daddy has been checking the weather every single day. We've already covered our strawberries and this week we'll cover the rest of the garden. For now, our herbs are all doing very well. Our swiss chard and kale keep thriving. (Mommy and Daddy came home a little late today so we weren't able to get any garden pictures). But we do have this little beauty to share with you. Mommy has heard of people growing avocado trees by starting the tree themselves with just the pit. How cool is that? So she thought she'd give a try. After about 2 months, look what we have. We will continue to give it fresh water and nurture it so that it will one day bring us lots and lots of avocados.

Have any of your parents started a fruit tree from a seed?

  1. hey Teddy,

Glad you are on top of protecting your garden before the frost hits!

Your picture brings back great memories for my human. Since she was a little kid they would put the avocado pits into glasses of water, just like your mom has it, and let them grow. So yay to your mom for doing it the old fashioned fun way! It is looking great!

  3. Our mom tried the avocado pit thing YEARS ago but she so stinks at house plants! With the green thumbs at your house, Teddy, we're sure you'll be eating avocados in a couple of years!

    Love ya lots
