Hi Cousin Kobe

Yesterday we all went over to Auntie Kim and Uncle Sean's house for a bbq. It was so much fun to see Cousin Kobe...it had been a while. He is doing somewhat better. He is still struggling with trust issues. He's been outside in his backyard for two weeks...to afraid to come in. We all wish we could know what happened before he came to his furever family. He sure was happy to see us and we were glad to have some fun in the sun.

Week eleven in the garden

The broccoli leaves look amazing and huge. We hope the broccoli crown will show up before the weather gets too hot.
As always, the kale outshines everything else in our garden.
Can you believe this is the flower that's on top of our green onions right now? Mommy thinks it is very pretty.
Our tomatoes were a major fail last year. (This was common with a lot of backyard farmers we know). But this year they look well on their way to producing lots and lots of fruit.
We are thrilled to be seeing tons of strawberries. We can already taste them.
The chives had a rough start last year. We've heard people say that everything does better the second year. We're so glad the chives stuck it out. Mommy loves cooking with chives...creme fraiche quiche, herbed eggs, mashed sweet potatoes, roasted veggies...the possibilities are endless.

Fun house Friday

I did not know that it was Fun house Friday today. When Daddy came home from work tonight he played the pawparazzi while taking a bunch of photos of me. Little did I know Daddy was going to alter my pretty face into the shape of a Saint Bernard. That's a pretty neat trick since I don't even weigh half of what a Saint Bernard weighs unless we're talking about a puppy. At least I didn't get the wavy mirror or the big swirly mirror, those always make me dizzy.

National Take Your Children to Work Day

We got to go to work with Daddy today. What a treat that was! We missed Mommy a lot. But it was different and fun being with Daddy all day. It brought back memories from when we used to go to work with Daddy all the time. We can't wait till next time!

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everyone, it's Sierra. Guess who came over for a visit today? Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Bey Bey. It's always so much fun when they visit. They even brought Chinese food for lunch. What a treat. We all spent a lot of time outside since it was a little cooler today.
Boys sure to love to sniff, sniff. I like to lay under the table and watch the birds.
How did you spend your day?

Can you guess...

...where I am? That's right, the VET. This is my least favorite place to be. (Insert a very, very SAD face).
Can someone please come and rescue me?
Ok, all the "fun" is over. Let's get out of here, Mommy!!!
I did have an okay VET visit. It was time for my annual wellness exam and heartworm test. I squealed and barked like any pup would that's going to the VET. We met some cute chihuahuas named Pumpkin and Tiger. Then it was time to go to the exam room and onto the metal table. The DR. checked all my vitals...teeth, heartbeat, ears, eyes, and all that other necessary stuff. Next it was time for the DR. to steal some blood from me. Of course he wanted to muzzle me but the VET TECH said that it was ok. Really? Wow! She must know that I am just terrified to be there and I would never hurt anyone. After the blood robbery, it was time to get on the scale. Oh boy! I weigh 49 lbs. There were some "D" words (diet) and "H" (husky) words going through Mommy's head. But the VET TECH never said I was overweight. As soon as we got in our truck, Mommy said told me that I am not fat but a little husky and that I needed to start a D-I-E-T. WHAT?! And guess what? The diet started today. We went for our second walkie after dinner and Mommy has already cut down on snack time. Here we go!

Week Ten in the garden- Earth Day

The kale is growing quiet well. Nothing around it even compares.
This little squash plant is already starting to grow little zucchinis. How exciting!
Our yukon golds are finally coming up. So that means it is time for some hilling.
Today Daddy mulched the tomato bed with fresh bark. Boy does it looks nice.
Strawberries are always better the second year around and judging by the size of these plants we will be enjoying more of these these little berries.
In honor of Earth Day we are planting a persimmon tree.
First Daddy dug a really deep hole and then he planted our new tree in a circle of bark. We think it looks great. What did you do for Earth Day?

Photocrop

Ok, so we didn't really get this close to the kitty and lie down in the field of flowers with her. But we thought it'd be cute to be add ins. But we really were this close to the kitty. We were less than 4 feet away from her and she didn't even budge. Isn't she a beauty?

We had to share...

We hope you're having a Happy Friday!

Thursday, April 19, 2012

It's like a...

...heat wave. It was 87 degrees here today. (We are still shaking our heads). That is a little warm for our taste. As soon as we came home from our walkie, I went straight to the grass. Boy did it feel nice and cool.

Hurry, Sierra, it's much cooler here.

It's supposed to get up to 90 degrees tomorrow. Not. Cool.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everyone, it's Sierra. As you can tell it was nice and sunny today. After our walk I wanted to rest so I found this little spot in the rocks to lie down. Yes, I know there are plenty of softer places to lay in our backyard but I like this spot because I can watch the birds playing in the bushes and trees overhead. Do any of you prefer napping on a bed of rocks over some soft grass? I know sleeping on hard surfaces is pretty common but how about sleeping in the bumpiest area in our entire back yard!

A DWB TV Show

Mommy's good friend sent her an email letting her know that the Disney Channel has a comedy show in the works. It is called Dog with a Blog. It is about a family who adopt a dog in hopes that feuding step siblings will get along better. We are all excited to see what this show is all about. Since we don't have the Disney Channel we are keeping our paws crossed that it will come to Netflix.

Week nine in the garden

Does anyone need thyme? Ok, good because we have TONS of it.

We transplanted one of our baby bell plants today. This is our first time growing bell peppers from seed and we are very excited!

We can't believe how much the mint grew in just one week. We are ready for some mint in our smoothies.

Just look at all of those flowers on the strawberries. We can already smell them. Hurry, strawberries!

The tomato plants are looking healthy and strong.

And they thought...

...they'd seen everything. Daddy saw a bunk bed for pets today. He took a picture with his phone but we knew he could find a better one online. Wow, how fancy is this? The bunk bed looks fun and cozy. What do you all think?

Who here loves snacks?

I know I sure do. I am so glad Mommy and Daddy love snacks too. I guess we are what you call snackers. Tonight we enjoyed raw cheese and salami with crackers. You can't see Sierra but she's on the other side waiting patiently for our favorite snack.

Lightning, thunder, and hail...

...oh my. We are loving the cooler Spring weather. We don't mind the rain either since we really need it. It really came down tonight. Grandma called to say that Uncle Bey Bey was scared of all the loud thunder. We really don't mind. We do like to bark at it sometimes, though. Sometimes it's fun to get cozy under Mommy's blanket. Not for too long since I warm up pretty quickly. Then it's time to go back outside to listen to the rain and thunder.

Sierra's Scoop

Hi everybody it's Sierra. Look what I found today on our walk. That's right, it's my favorite chew toy. I love to find free stuff that fits in my mouth so I can carry it home to play with later. Sticks can sometimes splinter so pine cones are a safer choice when you just want to make a mess. Let the fun begin!

Belated Easter fun

Daddy has found some fun APPS for his phone. He made this picture of himself and we thought we'd share. We only wish that he could dress up as a real duckie. Now that would be fun!

Week eight in the garden and a Happy Easter!!!

Can you say kale explosion? Mommy made kale twice this week and there is still an abundance.

All of the tomato plants are slowly growing. We had some cold weather last week but we hear that warmer weather is on its way. We know tomatoes love that heat.

Flowers mean that the strawberries are on their way!

The mint looks pawfect.

We hope your day was filled with lots of fun family time, hunting eggs, and tasty foodies. Happy Easter!!!

Pin up Pinterest

Well, Mommy finally gave into Pinterest. She resisted as long as she could but after a couple of "friend invites" to join she is now an official Pinner. Mommy says it's a bit overwhelming at first but when you find something you love like this pin from Pinterest, it all seems worth it. Daddy said it could be us in the picture. We'll admit, when we shed our long white hair it goes everywhere. But, it's not our fault that it clings to all of his and Mommy's clothes. They should just where white sweaters all the time. BOL!

Lately...

...We've been huffing and puffing and barking a lot. Mommy and Daddy wondered what was going on. Then a few days ago, Daddy saw this owl perched on top of our neighbor's tree. Do you see it? It's not looking at us but sometimes we can feel his presence. It's almost like a kittie just sitting on top on our fence, crying, "Come up here and play!" I guess the one good thing is that the opossum hasn't been back in a really long time. Daddy thinks we have Mr. Owl to thank for that.

Talk about...

...a change in the weather. We've had nice Spring like weather all week...sunny and slightly cool, just the way we like it. Although I (Teddy Bear) do wish it was a lot cooler. But for Spring, I can't complain. Then tonight we heard thunder. Lots of it. Then the heavy rain started.

Next came the hail. And wouldn't you know it, we both had to go potty...right in the midst of the hail storm.

How was the weather for you today?
