Helping Mommy...

...put together all the packages for Paw It Forward. I made sure that every toy and treat met my seal of approval. I really really wanted to play with all the new toys but Mommy said they weren't for me. I hope all my friends enjoy all the fun new toys that we picked. The weather hasn't been over 100 degrees this week. We are all thankful.

  6. Teddy, Scout, being nine years old, only gets his rabies shot every three years in order to keep him legal in the state of Michigan. However, once he is about 11, I will stop all shots completely feeling that the chemicals will be just too hard on his system in his old age.

Freyja is 5. I will give her all of her shots until 6-7. Then I will stop the general yearly shots and do only the three year rabies.

I went to a meeting a few years back hosted by a veterinarain. He told me that by the age of 5-6 the dog has an immunity built up in their system and that more inoculations aren't all that effective but that they are a great money-maker for his practice. He was very honest, don't you think?

If your mom is unsure after a couple more years (you are just a baby), you could ask your dog-tor to do what they call titers. Those will tell how much immunity to disease you have built up in your system.

If you have any more questions, just have your mom give me a bark☺
