Fun on a Friday: Mission Pawsible Part 3

Mission San Juan Bautista is very old. It was founded in 1797. Construction on the current building began in 1803. We had a great tour of the grounds while waiting for our friends. Look at how old the brick archway is. This giant bell hangs at the entrance of the Mission. The historic El Camino Real (The Kings Highway) lies behind the Mission. El Camino Real served as a road the missionaries used to travel. All 21 missions are on this ancient trail. I'm so glad that we were able to walk on it. All the doors in the Mission have cat holes so the cats can chase away all the mice that like to visit from the fields. Because the Mission lies along the San Andreas fault, it needed to be restored after a bad earthquake in the 1800's. During the reconstruction, workers laid out wet tiles to dry in the sun. Coyotes must have wanted to get to the cats or the mice because they left an imprint on dozens of tiles that are now spread throughout the main church floor. There were people camping out in front of the Mission. Look at those funny chairs. I wonder if they're comfortable? Daddy worked hard all day filming. We had fun with Mommy exploring this historic monument.

Thankful Thursday: Mission Pawsible Part 2

Today I'm thankful that we were able to spend so much time at Mission San Juan Bautista. We went to help Mommy's friend's son with his video project for school. Since they were running late, we were able to walk all around town. Mommy and Daddy loved all the quaint little stores. Sierra and I had a blast exploring. We saw lots of houses that were surrounded by greenery. We even saw a fake bull. We knew it was fake but it scared Sierra just a bit. We also saw lots of farmland. Mommy and Daddy thought all the colors in the field were just beautiful. They have dreams of having lots of farmland like the one we saw. It would be a lot of work for me but oh so rewarding.

12.7.2009~Breaking News!!!

I decided to put Mission Pawsible on hold to bring you some very exciting news! It snowed in northern CA today. The bay area to be exact. It hasn't snowed here in a very very long time. First frost has definitely hit! It was a beautiful sight. We weren't able to get any photos of us in the snow since Mommy was still sleeping and Daddy was rushing off to work. More rain is expected this week...I am keeping my paws crossed that it will be snow instead of rain.:)

P.S. Monday's post was late because Daddy was very busy helping our friend make a video. Mommy couldn't get to the computer to post the blog. Arrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! This is why I think they should get another computer for me.
