Sadderday number twelve

For the last few days, my tummy hasn't been feeling too well. I've had the runs since Thursday night. Mommy and Daddy were hoping to ride it out since everything else was normal. (I was still playful with Sierra, still had my appetite, and was always ready for walkie time). Then this morning I vomited bile. Not that Mommy and Daddy weren't worried before but when this happened, it was time to go to the...VET. Since my regular VET wasn't in today we were referred to a different dr. Many of you know, that I can sense when we're going to my VET even before we get there. I do all I can to try and lead Mommy and Daddy away from the front door. Today was different, I thought we were going for a car ride. As soon as Daddy opened the door to the VET, I slipped out of my collar and ran the other way across the parking lot. Mommy came racing after me and gave me a hug telling me that everything was going to be ok. While we waited, I met a very intriguing kitty and came face to face wit him. Can you believe it? There were tons of other friendly pups there. Mommy wished she'd remembered to bring her camera but that was the last thing on her mind. (She took pictures with her camera phone but they were very fuzzy). I only had one accident when we got there. I was very nervous. You all know how I feel about being at the VET. Dr. Deb was very nice. That was before she invaded my privacy for a total of three times (taking my temperature, checking my abdomen and GI systems, etc.). Can you believe it? They did a bunch of tests...a fecal test, a Giardia test. Everything came out negative. Hurray, right? So the best that Dr. Deb could conclude is that it is Colitis. No idea of knowing how or where I got it. She said it could be a number of things...stress, food, you name it. She gave me some pills that do not taste yummy. I haven't had the runs since our visit to the VET. Mommy and Daddy hope it stays this way. Our bathroom trash is filled to the top with baby wipes. Oopsie. See, Mommy, I am feeling better. Can I have some treats now? Maybe I need to work on my sad face a little more.
Teddy Bear's Mommy here. Teddy seems normal, like nothing is bothering him. We've not given him any treats for the past few days. Just raw milk with pumpkin and a dinner of homemade chicken broth, brown rice, carrots, and spinach. He doesn't seem to miss his chicken but I can tell he misses his treats. We hope his meds will help him feel solid again. We've never dealt with a sick pup before and it's torture on our hearts.

  2. Oh Teddy, we hope your tummy stays better. It made me sad hearing about you running across the parking lot to get away from the vet. I don't like that place either. We hope you get a lot of rest today, and that your tummy does well so you can have treats again.

  6. Teddy-
Sorry you're feeling bad. Once I got real pukey and after all the vet tests, the diagnosis was 'He must have eaten something icky'. Your new diet sounds yummy, hope you're back to your ol' self soon!

  11. So very sorry, teddy for coming in late. Hope you are already feeling better though.
mummy says it maybe sometimes from eating too much of raw fruits. you can get get acidity and running tummy and vomitings too. it happens sometimes with ginger.she feels better after some milk and cheese and ice-cream.milk products, which we so love.
your present food sounds good.though mummy is a little worried about the spinach.it contains high quantities of oxalates which is not very good.
we wish you a very very speedy recovery.
    mummy sends her hugs too

  14. Been there so many times - colitis is often idiopathic - so all it does is give you a good scare for nothing! :(

Glad you are better Teddy! :)
