We usually don't discuss politics but this bumper sticker caught our eyes. We have never ridden in the back of Daddy's truck because it's not safe for Sierra and me. But some people think it's safe to strap a crate on the roof of the car and let their ride pups ride up there. That sounds pretty dangerous to us. We're glad other people think so too.

A snails pace
Today, as I was lying near the grass I spotted a baby snail traveling in my direction.

At first I didn't think it was moving but after watching it for a while I realized it was on a collision course with yours truly. Why is it, that after every rain there is always a snail race across the yard? Snails are gross but snail trails are even grosser.

Sierra's scoop
Hi everyone, it's Sierra. I have been watching my brother Teddy Bear patrolling our yard and what I learned is that anything that walks, crawls, slithers, or creeps over, under, or along the top of our fence is worthy of a mean bark or two. What I find more interesting is that Teddy doesn't care to much about the winged intruders. So I have decided that I will be the birdie defender always there to scare them off. We might be all bark and no bite but all fluffed up we can be pretty convincing.

Our first harvest
Look at all this kale that we harvested yesterday. Mommy loves to use it in soups, in salads, as a side dish, and in green smoothies. We love green smoothies too.

While Mommy was busy harvesting, I (Teddy Bear) was busy crossing through the garlic bed to get to the fence. Oopsie. How was I to know that raised beds are off limits?

Week six in the garden
We've been hard at work in our garden. Planting French Breakfast Radishes, Purple Top White Globe Turnips, and some Bull's Blood Beets is just the tip of the iceberg.

We also transplanted a couple of San Marzano Tomato plants and they look great. Mommy hasn't decided where to put this Zucchini Black Beauty so Daddy transplanted it into a pot for now.

You wouldn't know by looking, but Mommy harvested a bunch of the Kale Blue Curled Scotch today. The De Cicco Broccoli is also growing just fine with out any help from us. Who can forget about the onions, I can smell them as soon as I step outside.

The Italian Parsley is finally getting greener so it should start becoming more fragrant too. After we covered the Chives with plastic to protect them from a storm they have been looking better than ever. I guess they liked the warmth in side the mini greenhouse tunnel cover.

Daddy was dipping the seed Yukon Gold Potatoes in wood ash to callous them before planting. Daddy is creating a tower of potatoes that is sure to to grow tons of the yummy earth apples. So stay tuned we will be sharing some pictures soon.

Waiting for rain
Today we all woke up really early (for a Saturday) and went for a walkie. We were trying to beat the rain that was supposed to be falling today. But after waiting almost all day for the rain, we realized it wasn't coming. I was so bored I decided to see if my head would fit between a couple pieces of furniture. It fit so well that I took a nap. Maybe when I wake up it will finally be raining.

What do we have here?
The grass looks a little long to us, Daddy. We think it's time to bring out the lawn mower. Even though our lawn mower doesn't make any noise, the grass eating machine still scares Sierra. I think it's hilarious.

Good job, Daddy. You're almost done and just in time for dinner too.

Are any of you scared of the lawn mover like my Sister?

You never know...
the cool friends you'll meet at the mall parking lot. Look who we had the privilege of meeting this weekend? His name is Spencer. He is two years old and has the longest hair of any Akita we've ever met. How cool is that?! While we were waiting for our Mommies, we enjoyed a quick walk on the grass and chatted about how we haven't gotten nearly enough snow this winter. Then we sighed as we realized that Spring is almost here. I hope we get to go to the mall more often. We love meeting furry friends.

Week five in the garden
We have tomatoes, peppers, and squash growing under a fluorescent light and they are looking good.

Our tunnel covers have really worked good when we have needed them.

Daddy is warming up the soil for our carrots, beets and radishes.

The onions are doing well we but need to plant more.

Mommy can't wait for the broccoli to grow.

Of course the Kale is simply amazing. Super healthy in so many ways.

Chives go with so many dishes. Mommy is glad they are finally taking off.

The parsley has been getting greener and greener.

Today Daddy planted more garlic to fill in any empy spots in our few rows growing.

Squid snack Saturday
Today we went to visit Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Bey Bey. It was
another rainy day so we stayed inside most of the time. We think Uncle Bey Bey is so lucky to live in a place with so many snacks. Daddy had a Danish pastry and Mommy had some dried persimmons. Grandma had a couple of tangerines while Grandpa had dried squid. We couldn't resist the strong fishy smell. We got in a couple of
licks during the photo shoot. Them afterwards we were both given a few pieces and boy...was it delicious!

Week four in the garden
Look what we found growing in the garden today. It's Yukon Gold Potatoes! Does that mean Daddy missed a few during last harvest? Oopsie.

We are not ready to give up on the Asian Pear tree. It still isn't growing like our lemon and lime trees.

Another crop that just keeps growing on it's own is the garlic. Mommy is paying close attention to it to make sure it does well.

Daddy has been working the soil in all of the empty beds getting ready for transplants. We still have a bunch of plants under a fluorescent light growing inside too.

Along with the parsley, chives and onions, the kale is our going to be a great producer like always. Ready for Zuppa Tuscana soup?
